On a related note, I found a page with the covers of all the IKEA catalogs from 1951-2018. http://www.home-designing.com/2013/07/ikea-catalog-covers It''s interesting how their style evolved (or didn't) over the years Starts out basic MCM  enter Scandinavian design - I'm pretty sure you can find identical furniture and cabinets at IKEA now  I did not realize the POANG chair had been around this long  even IKEA weren't immune to the 80s a e s t h e t i c though

More accurate to call it a fabulous 19th century Tudor revival house? I mean it was built in 1885; it’s practically a national treasure. I don’t like some of the modern touches done to it; but it’s a pretty stunning house.

I agree that some minimalist stuff is super expensive which is dumb. I have mostly Ikea stuff though and a few items from Blu Dot (that I definitely did not pay full price for). I think neutrals are the only good choice for walls though. But it could be any sort of neutral, not just a gray.

There's certainly an enormous middle ground. There's even some super cheap Ikea stuff I have that has lasted for as long as I've had my home (nine years). It certainly depends on the function. If it's just a little table to hold an item, I won't want to spend much at all, but if it's a couch or a bed that will certainly change. Also styles constantly change, so I feel like it's rare for people to keep furniture items several decades.

The Zillow search term of the day is "bohemian" which apparently means you threw some cushions/pillows on the floor  like, a lot of cushions  throw pillows on chairs also work  it also means oriental rugs  that's not enough rugs  WE NEED MORE RUGS  and sometimes, just sometimes, it means "open-concept bathroom"  (with pillows on the floor)
