Best out of 71?
Yeah hollerbachs was prepared to open their new rooftop bar the week everything shutdown. I’m sure without food trucks monthly, a lot of local people are hurting.

On the tangent of Disney World, I’m curious what measures they’ll have in place when they open back up. Ie, how to limit the absurd crowding at Forever After.

Edit; oops.

Yeah from the CDC and FEMA plan to reopen the country:

quote:

“Models indicate 30-day shelter in place followed by 180 day lifting of all mitigation results in large rebound curve — some level of mitigation will be needed until vaccines or broad community immunity is achieved for recovering communities.”

The document says re-opening communities in this phased approach “will entail a significant risk of resurgence of the virus.” Any reopening must meet four conditions:
·Incidence of infection is “genuinely low.”
·A “well functioning” monitoring system capable of “promptly detecting any increase in incidence” of infection.
·A public health system that is “reacting robustly” to all cases of covid-19 and has surge capacity to react to an increase in cases.
·A health system that has enough inpatient beds and staffing to rapidly scale up and deal with a surge in cases.

The plan describes the conditions under which it is reasonable to lift some community mitigation measures, the phased steps to reduce those measures and indicators to monitor the impact of transmission on public health and health system capacities.

Moderate mitigation is called for in former hot spots entering “controlled recovery.” Significant mitigation is recommended in current or emerging hot spots, or moderate mitigation communities showing signs of strained capacity.

Disney is not opening for a long time. Theme parks/sporting events/music festivals/conventions will be among the last things to return.

Private tours only, mandatory temperature checks before entry. Think 21 Royal crowds and experience.

It will be the playground of the rich and famous for a while before the unwashed masses get let in again.

So that's exactly what Disney wanted right? :thunk:

Better idea than reopening the parks if you're looking for a way to grab a chunk of income for Disney.

This is really missing the obvious cross-promotional possibilities of temporarily converting the now-unused open areas of WDW into open-air basketball courts, with views of the rides and scenery behind the players.

There’s no way body temperatures will be skewed abnormally high during the summer in Florida

Also can you imagine a suburban American mom on vacation being told her temperature is .01 degree outside the threshold and she can’t come into the parks?

If it was feasible to have antibody tests for every single person entering the park every single day, I'd totally be down with that. Entering the park would be hell though.

Do we even have an antibody test yet?

The only 15 minute test I'm aware of involves stabbing your brain with a swab through the nose. I'm really enjoying the idea of Karen going through this and quietly evaluating how much she really loves little Timmy tho.

This test sucks bad enough that even our big boy president couldn't say "it was fine."

I had heard a less invasive one was doing some field tests right now. Who knows. And yeah, I don't see any realistic way parks reopen without a vaccine. At this point I'm hoping we have one by September 2021 for our Alaskan cruise.

If they tested everyone I might think about it. Not sure I’d feel ok about flying there. And is testing all guests even good enough? What about CMs? What about extremely accessible to the public areas like Disney Springs or buses?

The entire US has only tested 3.7m people in all this time. I can't even fathom the entrance of Animal Kingdom's absolute clusterfuck for what testing 10,000 people first thing in the morning.

And what happens when someone turns up positive? Do they hunt down what bus they came in on? Do they pull everyone from that bus and make them stay in quarantine? fill out forms?

If 1 in 5 people is popping positive (per the current numbers, that's right around what it is. 19.849%. So I'm just rounding up.), statistically, that would mean 2,000 people would be positive.

What the gently caress is Disney going to do to stop spread with those kinds of numbers?

E: and yes, here https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ 1 in 5 of every person tested has cv19. This isn't a matter of "oh well are you contagious" etc. This isn't even counting false positives. I can't see how they can possibly open right now.
