Folks, it was when the pro basketball player got tested positive right before a game when poo poo popped off. So the only way to get back to normal and ignore the global pandemic is to have large crowds of people watching professional and collegiate sports together with tons of support staff and media there as well. Gosh you all are all so stupid. We just have to do things like normal and they'll be normal again!

It would be immoral and counterproductive

I gassed up my motorcycle this evening, full face helmet and a crappy surgical mask. The mask served no purpose unless someone decided to take issue with me wearing or not wearing a mask. Used two paper towels, one for the pump and and one for the nozzle fiddling that motorcycles require to get a full tank. Pencil for the keypad, and which went in the plastic bag with the card. Gloves stayed on. Has anyone driven around and sampled the air on highways at various speeds in traffic, then done a check for the virus? On the freeway on a bike, I can smell a cigar or weed (surprisingly common) from a mile away, even at full speed. Presumably if someone coughs with the window open I'm getting a face full of particles, but I'd like to know for sure.

I went to the supermarket to buy food and pretty much no one was giving a poo poo about the pandemic. Lots of people standing around chatting in groups, hardly anyone was observing social distancing, hardly anyone was wearing a mask. I saw one old lady holding a hankie up to her mouth and several elderly people actually covered their mouth with their sleeves when I passed by them in my mask - that's not how it works, folks.

The health minister said the death counted as recovered, not removed, so appearantly he doesn't understand the model either.

re: the last page, I've had sadbrains most of my life and while the pandemic isn't helping, I can confidently say that "opening up the economy" or whatever the gently caress is going to be a lot more devastating than us sadbrains sitting at home and maybe offing ourselves, something we'd be thinking of regardless of situation. Which is not to say new people won't be affected with depression etc, but that's really not the same at all as death on a wide scale due to a disease that literally kills you and/or hospitals being too full to treat all the other poo poo that potentially kills you because too many people's lungs are drowning. Yes I responded to a "stupid or troll" post but for real, there is no way the social cost of suicide/dv/isolation is going to be greater than people literally dying of cv.
