Actually first learned to make pasta sauce from that Daft Punk video...we do everything right, peel a ton of tomatoes, fresh herbs, loads of garlic and olive oil. Takes 2ish hours start to finish...it's good, but it's not an order of magnitude better than some premade stuff, but it's good.

I remember reading about how they weren't happy with the first few takes, so then he sent it flying and yelled out in agony, which they thought was great. A realistic scream, just like he was in pain! Then he took off his boot and two of his toes were broken.

Adding olive oil is just making it greasier without adding taste because the olive oil taste is so delicate any herbs are gonna obscure it.

If you're using anything other than garbage tier oil, it'll be a great bonus. You do get fat rendered from the meat (I use equal parts beef and pork sausage) but those fats have a different taste and consistency and are not a sub for olive oil. Fat /= fat, as it were.
