Asus put out a Ryzen 9 laptop, and then decided to solder 8GB to the board alongside one replaceable DIMM.

So if you use anything more than a 2nd 8GB stick, it goes into single channel mode. gently caress.

The style of that laptop is heavily inspired by surface book (especially given that the previous ones in the series look completely different) so it looks like they took a couple cues even in the wrong places.

That said it's pretty great value and one of the best ones around right now.

Does it? Usually, this type of configuration means 16 GB can be used as in dual channel mode and anything above that is single channel only

Na na na na na na na na Batman!
Dual-channel gains in memory bandwith in-practice are fairly negligible iirc, like 10%? That performance difference might be more significant on infinity fabric stuff tho.

10% is still a significant impact if you consider overhead.

It's YOSPOS, it's all garbage. Just write whatever you wanted to write.

Most threads are simply people recounting uninteresting anecdotes from their lives, or weird apple fanboyism.

Did you get a threadripper or a socketripper?

three generations in, it feels a little disappointing to only have the option to rip threads. AMD have to kick it up a notch, give people the option to shread threads or obliterate threads

maybe turn the whole concept on its head and release a superconducting thread collider
