unpacked robinhood posted:Do in developing countries typically have good health though ? It's not a stretch to picture poor hygiene, no healthcare, poor diet taking their toll too. Poor healthcare is bad. But not having access to medications that manage long-term illness means many of the people who had heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, diabetes, and so on have already died of those ailments. That's part of why their demographics skew young. Can't get the 'roni if you're already dead. And health isn't just one thing. Malnutrition is bad, but so is obesity. Anecdotes indicate that the majority of people who need intubation have obesity. Having less than 10% of your population obese is probably helpful, which doesn't happen in many rich countries.

I've been slowly decreasing my weight from 243 a couple of years ago to about 217.6 now. Before this started I was 216 and it's slowly gone up. I got shoulder surgery so I can't lift at home, and need to spend a lot of time stretching. I've been gaining weight due to lots of weed. I think I need to just quit weed and go back on my diet and carry on stretching until I can lift again. I don't want to die due to being obese!

Possible new symptom... Covid toes!!! https://www.today.com/health/skin-symptoms-related-coronavirus-doctors-discuss-covid-toes-t178991 If this is true, then I actually may have the roni. I don't have any symptoms other than a couple of my toes turn a little bit purple, with somr soreness. I was confused because, while I'm diabetic, my blood sugars have been really good so I got scared that my toe was gonna rot off. Glad thats not the case.

That particular camp has had 5 dead this week , yet people outside not even 30 mins away are protesting at the statehouse? Absurd. 20 mins south of that prison was the site of Camp Sherman during WW1 . That camp saw around 2k troops die due to dorm living during the Spanish flu. What’s there now ? Chillicothe Correctional Institute, a medium security prison with bunk housing. They now have positive cases and are still eating in lunch hall. Yeah, idk how u solve this one. Prisons were over populated to begin with. Surprised there wasn’t plagues before this. Let out all non violent marijuana offenders I guess would probably “help”. But lol

prisons already had troubles with TB due to lack of bcg as one person without bcg will infect everyone, so its not new that plagues spread easy in a prison

Quarkjets says yes but their arguments are unconvincing, IMO. I say no, and I have explained why. You seem to say yes, but have not presented any arguments. That’s my understanding as of right now. I find it bizarre that you can characterize the actual hospitalization statistics in New York as an "argument". Like we're not even talking about the accuracy of the numbers, you seem to be dismissing the numbers based on how you feel about them, which is weird and very "Fake News"

Confirmed deaths in the US are over 37,000. I'm impressed, but deaths will need to quadruple to catch up with Spain and Italy on a per capita basis. Perhaps Florida reopening beaches while the infection rate is rapidly increasing will help boost the statistics. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/

Qualifications had to be no violent or sexual offenses , under 90 days left and elderly/ pregnant inmates were priority. A grand total of 5 were from CCI (population 2,700+) to give an idea of how much that helped. It is a tough situation. I’m not sure what places will do to balance the risk of infection vs the risk of riot

These people should be in prison but they’ll never see consequences. quote:”The feeling is that the end is in sight,” McMaster said in a news conference Thursday.
