We were gonna go up in a couple of months for vacation but welp to that. Was really looking forward to going to Banff and Halifax this year.

SCOTUS rules that the Sixth Amendment requires unanimous verdicts, and that this applies to the states via the Fourteenth. Oregon last and only state to allow non-unanimous verdicts. Now, here's the kicker, an effective 5-3-1 ruling and not how you think. Gorusch,, Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor and Kavanaugh for. Alito, Roberts and Kagan dissenting in varying degrees. Thomas concurring with the majority but believes the Sixth "applies against the States through the Privileges or Immunities Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, not the Due Process Clause" https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/19pdf/18-5924_n6io.pdf

Nova Scotia is so drat pretty. I went about 15 years ago when I got back from deployment. They have my favorite "cheap" beer ever in Alexander Keith's IPA form. Labatt owns it and won't distribute it to the US. Boo. But still an awesome, beautiful place. Go watch the tides roll into the Bay of Fundy.

If you're accused of a crime and exercise your right to have 12 randomly determined* people from the area decide whether you're guilty or not instead of having a judge decide, all 12 people have to agree that you're guilty in order for you to be found guilty. Oregon decided about 85 years ago that 10/12 was good enough, and in 1898 Louisiana decided 9/12 was fine. (Louisiana changed back to unanimous juries in 2018) Now, no matter where you are in the US**, if you're accused of a crime that carries more than 6 months in jail/prison, you have the right to a jury of 12 people determine your guilt or innocence and their verdict must be unanimous. *exceptions may apply **except the military - 12/12 for death penalty, 6/8 for 'felonies', 3/4 for 'misdemeanors' joat mon fucked around with this message at 18:24 on Apr 20, 2020 |

With tanked demand, the oil has to go *somewhere*, the producers can't just keep it, so now they're paying drat near anyone possible that has storage space for it.

These are may futures prices, and the main brokerage has announced they're going to allow negative trading. The issue is no one has room to actually store anything because there's no demand. If you can actually hold onto 1000 barrels of crude, you may get paid to do so soon.
