Philosophy tube on YouTube has a great video on why Ben Shapiro is so loved. It boils down to he acts like he's winning the argument, so people who want him to win see him as winning. If you view a conversation/argument in terms of 'winning' or 'losing' rather than discourse then the content doesn't matter. It's why they shout over other people, and move the conversation around so quickly. The question was about free education, but turned into a bash on the rabbi because of his religion. Because he read off the names of the old testament quickly it gave the appearance that he knew it better than the rabbi, so his supporters eat it up. It's not that the rabbi couldn't name them off that quickly, but Kirk made it seem like a competition. He won the non-existent competition, and then moved on quickly to a different area. To his supporters he just 'owned' the rabbi, but it wasn't even something that was relevant, and the rabbi didn't fire back because it wasn't.

EDIT: It was also false equivalence. Knowing the books of the OT does not correlate to knowing the jewish faith, but Kirk equates it as such and his supporters ignore the leap of logic.

Come on. Use your brain. There is no shortage of TRUMP 2020 and Gadsden flags in that mess, and the cameras do not make any effort to hide those, which proves the protests are politically motivated--and that's enough for most people. Plus, polling clearly shows that the vast majority of people are not siding with them.

To be frank, these people aren't listening to jack poo poo. They already have their stances that right wing must win, so anything he says they just ignore, but because he could respond and get away with it for *see my statement above* they default it to a win. He could have responded with an argument "why fire trucks are always red but sometimes yellow and never green, but green too" and his supporters would fall to the floor to lick his boots and kiss his rear end. These people are dumb, and he knows how to grift that. And the people that go to argue against him? They're dumb too for thinking it will do anything but get them laughed out by the morons around him.

It would also be really easy to come back at them with a simple "nothing you said makes sense, please try to stay on topic, I know that can be difficult for someone with your brain problems" but the centrist dogma is always to be polite and go with the facts against people who have none and don't care.

AOC is successful because she just hits them back harder and doesn't bother engaging in their petulant dick waving contests

They usually don't mention the crowd size being only like a hundred people at most of these. It's been a continuing problem. It's always presented as a legit movement and not astroturfed bullshit.

And the average American doesn't have that negative of an association of the Gadsden flag or general MAGA poo poo. If they showed the real crowd or just let them talk it'd be way more obvious that these people are no more than sidewalk preachers screaming about the Illuminati in most cases. Instead it's treated as a sincere divide that needs to be talked about.

It's not :tinfoil: to say that the MSM media is going to gently caress this up the same way they did with the tea party due to both sideism. Most people still support the lockdown, but continued reporting of "The Controversy" may be pushing it down. Or maybe not. It's hard to tell how much sway regular rear end news has with people still. I'm hoping people are smart enough not to fall for it again.

There was at least one goon or Twitter personality who just started responding to every "debate me" style right-wing argument with random links to unrelated research papers. Just about everyone immediately ceded the point, assumed that he'd posted a real counter and moved on anyway out of a mix of laziness and knowledge that debates are mostly just flexing words not real point-for-point talk.

I forgot which NPR show it was, but it had an episode about a "urban" highschool that disrupted the HS debate circuit . One of the things they highlighted was how HS to college debate is literally just machine gunning bullet points and judges just give points based on how many bullet points you just shat out. This is why you see very very white failkids like Shapio and Tomi ( newest Fox News fanservice,) machine gun talking points in their early career.
