The Thunderbirds have been flying up and down the front range of Colorado for exactly that (probably a good excuse for seat time) for a few weeks now, I think.

It's not the biggest waste of money, but it's still a waste. Like football game flyovers.

The Roylab Stats ticker on youtube says 47,757 U.S. Americans dead from the roni. Of 853k cases.

We're on our way to probably a 5.5% death rate of known roni cases. That's just simple mathing it, I don't know how to figure CFR.

There are a lot of nursing homes not reporting covid deaths and a lot of others who died and will not get tested. The actual death count is at least 20% higher if not more.

Very simply put, drat near all of the data related to COVID death rates is garbage because we have no idea how prevalent it. Partially due to a lack of testing symptomatic people, then also due to asymptomatic people getting it and clearing it without ever developing symptoms or getting tested. High-quality antibody tests are just now coming online, but there's also a lot of garbage antibody testing too.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/04/17/business/nearly-third-200-blood-samples-taken-chelsea-show-exposure-coronavirus/?event=event25 - here 64/200 in a Boston Burb where COVID ran wild popped hot for antibodies, even though they were healthy, but had "one symptom" of COVID at one point.

https://twitter.com/marcelsalathe/status/1252930461715836928

We're likely to find out that this thing is more contagious and less deadly than what the current numbers say. That's not really a good thing, as it drat near caused the collapse of the NYC and Metro Detroit hospital systems when left alone.

Gonna be fun watching poo poo cities like Charlotte and Atlanta and Orlando break out and gently caress their hospitals in the next few weeks.

And by fun I mean depressing as hell, but somehow doing wonders for my mentality. I described my fascination with it to my line of psychiatrists the past few months, like when the asylums were emptied in France during WWII. Crazies came out of their pens and took the war like it was a sunday afternoon.

Atlanta's hospitals were already at capacity due to the vid before this. The mayor of Atlanta said governor Kemp didn't so much as call her before deciding to open up the state.

Yeah, I call that an acceptable reason to not wander in Georgia. Traffic really is #2 on the list aside from being led around by conservative jackals ready to feast on the people who want to bowl or whatever.

The crime, I don't care about. Crime is everywhere, doesn't mean a city is poo poo because of it, there's usually supporting factors for southern states being terrible.

Oh look, more unreported deaths. This time WAY before anyone thought poo poo was going down.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52385558

quote:

An autopsy in California has revealed that the first US coronavirus-related death came weeks earlier than previously thought.

The first previously known death in the US was in Seattle on 26 February and the first in California on 4 March.

New information from a Santa Clara county coroner changes that timeline.

Autopsies on two people who died on 6 February and 17 February show they died with Covid-19.

Samples from the autopsies were sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which confirmed the presence of the virus, California's Santa Clara County coroner's office said in a statement on Tuesday.

The death of a third Santa Clara individual on 6 March has also been confirmed to be coronavirus-related.

"These three individuals died at home during a time when very limited testing was available only through the CDC," the coroner statement said.

I hope that those who die get tested so we can see the true numbers.

I can't wait for the giant hurf "I told you it wasn't that deadly and you killed the economy anyway!" from the entire right once the real ish numbers start getting identified.

COVID-19 is amazingly contagious but manifests in wildly different ways. Some of the statistical models had it's R value around 5. It was definitely higher than 2.

2-5 is what the previous SARS came in at so this isn’t some weird stat. There’s obviously much more to characterizing the spread and threat of the disease than R0.

SARS also had people being contagious right as they presented with symptoms, so it was easier to isolate the infected and contact trace when possible.

My work has announced that we’re working from home through at least the end of May. I suspect that it’ll likely be mid-June before we go back to the office. I anticipate a weird, tense summer before the second wave of COVID hits in conjunction with flu season in the fall/winter.

All told, I think 2020 is going to be a complete write-off of a year.

I think the coming mortgage crisis is at least partially by design. The super wealthy are going to use this to snap up tens of thousands of foreclosed homes and add them to their portfolios, especially as rentals. It happened after the 2008 collapse. Sec. Mnuchin and Tom Barrack and the rest of these jackals are probably licking their chops at the unemployment claims
