There are a lot of nursing homes not reporting covid deaths and a lot of others who died and will not get tested. The actual death count is at least 20% higher if not more.

CRUSTY MINGE posted:The Roylab Stats ticker on youtube says 47,757 U.S. Americans dead from the roni. Of 853k cases. Very simply put, drat near all of the data related to COVID death rates is garbage because we have no idea how prevalent it. Partially due to a lack of testing symptomatic people, then also due to asymptomatic people getting it and clearing it without ever developing symptoms or getting tested. High-quality antibody tests are just now coming online, but there's also a lot of garbage antibody testing too. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/04/17/business/nearly-third-200-blood-samples-taken-chelsea-show-exposure-coronavirus/?event=event25 - here 64/200 in a Boston Burb where COVID ran wild popped hot for antibodies, even though they were healthy, but had "one symptom" of COVID at one point. Why the Cali studies could be bullshit: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/stephaniemlee/coronavirus-antibody-test-santa-clara-los-angeles-stanford https://twitter.com/marcelsalathe/status/1252930461715836928 We're likely to find out that this thing is more contagious and less deadly than what the current numbers say. That's not really a good thing, as it drat near caused the collapse of the NYC and Metro Detroit hospital systems when left alone. Gonna be fun watching poo poo cities like Charlotte and Atlanta and Orlando break out and gently caress their hospitals in the next few weeks. And by fun I mean depressing as hell, but somehow doing wonders for my mentality. I described my fascination with it to my line of psychiatrists the past few months, like when the asylums were emptied in France during WWII. Crazies came out of their pens and took the war like it was a sunday afternoon. (Not making GBS threads on Atlanta for any particular reason other than their governor. Their highways are garbage though.)

Traffic really is #2 on the list aside from being led around by conservative jackals ready to feast on the people who want to bowl or whatever. The crime, I don't care about. Crime is everywhere, doesn't mean a city is poo poo because of it, there's usually supporting factors for southern states being terrible.

SARS also had people being contagious right as they presented with symptoms, so it was easier to isolate the infected and contact trace when possible. My work has announced that we’re working from home through at least the end of May. I suspect that it’ll likely be mid-June before we go back to the office. I anticipate a weird, tense summer before the second wave of COVID hits in conjunction with flu season in the fall/winter. All told, I think 2020 is going to be a complete write-off of a year.
