He is a fundamentally changed man, serious and somber, and will now tackle this crisis with all the gravity and circumspection it is due. Seeing the efforts of the NHS first-hand has further given him a new perspective on public services, and he appreciates deeply the need for them to have abundant funding and other support from an informed and engaged government. e; The ED-209 is 14 shy of 223. I fear as soon as this poo poo ends, we are going to plunge straight back into even worse austerity

That is almost certainly a guarantee I'm afraid. Even if we weren't extremely likely to smash into a recession when the pandemic is "over" it'd still be a perfect narrative excuse to jump feet-first into austerity.

Yeah, Sunak's already said as much. I can't remember/find the words he used but basically he heavily implied that once the initial period was over, spending would need to be paid for. (presumably not by the rich though)

Use something to hold the bands together behind your head - people sell little clips especially for the purpose but really a bit of string will do the job just as well.

Someone worked out that since BJ became PM, he's spent 72% of the time either on holiday or off sick lol. There are also rumours that his 2 week holiday at Chequers back in February was to smooth over 'issues' in his personal life, so I assume he's been having an affair again.

How do we live without carefully curating our own inner lives so that we don't just spend the entire time screaming?

Just need an old t-shirt, a needle and thread and some kitchen roll.

So, hypothetically, if someone's work had sent them home to work from home, but reduced their salary by 20%. Is there anyway to check if their employer has applied for the Work Retention Scheme to pay 80% of their salary? I'm not saying my brother in laws employer is scum, but i'm suspicious.

If I understand what you're saying, that's pretty standard for most of these furloughs? Some companies are paying the extra 20% to keep furloughed employees on their normal wage, but there's no obligation to under the scheme rules.

If you're furloughed then you can't do any work for them, so either he's still employed at full pay and needs to sign a new contract if they want to drop his salary by 20%, or he's furloughed and shouldn't be doing any work.
