I kind of hope the leaks are fake or an early draft to throw off people. It sounds really mean spirited. Uncharted 4 is fantastic, by the way. It's real odd how everyone is so quick to dismiss the other stuff this dude worked on. E: I'm kind of reeling how sophomoric these reveals are when there is some actual heart in those two other games despite people coming out of the woodwork to explain how shallow and awful they were. I'm choosing to be skeptical about anything that isn't on video for me to see with my own two eyes. I watched the videos and it looks like The Last Of Us 2 alright for better or worse. Reading some random synopsis from a guy who heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy is a real lame way to judge the quality of a game's story.

I don't think playing as Abby is a completely bad idea. But they're doing it in the absolute dumbest way possible. If you played as Abby the whole time, and the game started with the hospital massacre, and then you've gotta survive after your entire community has been murdered and you're alone in the zombie world, then that would be completely different. Then when you eventually meet Joel and Ellie, the player would've been in Abby's head the whole time and will be way more OK with doing violence to them. But they were cowards and knew that the game would probably sell a lot better if you played as Ellie than as some new girl. So they explicitly market is as "The Ellie Game" and make a big deal about being coy about whether or not Joel is in it. So everybody is going in primed with memories of the characters they played as and liked.

I feel like the better way to do it would be to have you play as Abby without know who she is at first, allowing you to empathise with her first before you realise she wants to kill Joel. Having her do that first seems like it would put the player off liking her, but we'll have to see how they handle it i guess.

You can now watch these leaks on Youtube. No, actually being ingame doesn't make them better. They put zero effort into humanizing Abby. It is extremely heavy handed. So cool! Uh, sad they cancelled this game due to the whole Corona thing. I was kinda hesitant about a second Last of Us, didn't really feel needed. Guess it all worked out in the end!

I'll probably have to replay the first game, because I recall most of the worst stuff (outside of combat executions) being implied rather than lovingly rendered and lingered on. David being creepy and almost certainly a rapist? Cool, I want to get Ellie the gently caress away from this guy. David dragging her around the room by her hair, slamming her into poo poo and wrenching her arm out of its socket while she's screaming and crying? No, Neil, the gently caress are you doing?
