I haven't bought (or at least built, big backlog of sets) anything in a while since mostly been spending time with other hobbies, but now that I have a compatible smartphone the Liebherr is really tempting me. As is the pirate island. How is the Liebherr, is it just gimmicky or actually really cool?

Also, whats the consensus on the lego takeover of bricklink, now that the dust has settled?

Pirate Island rules. For anyone who feels they missed out on the big pirate ships (BSB, SES) this should fill the void.

Can't vouch for the Liebherr as it's Technics but didn't someone itt give it a negative review? Or was that the Bucket Wheel Excavator?

Haven't bought anything on BrickLink in a few months but I didn't think the buyer experience had really changed during the short time I used it- seems to have affected the sellers more?

What is the backlog of sets you have yet to build? I am intrigued by everyone's Pile of Shame. Mine currently consists of:

-10193 Medieval Village
-6986 Space Police Mission Commander (aka Galactic Enforcer)
-6286 Skull's Eye Schooner
-1687 Midnight Transport (someone posted it in here and it looked pretty cool imo)

(plus a few smaller unidentified Town/City sets that are all mixed together and have lost box/instructions for)

These have all been sitting for months. What's in YOUR pile of shame, Lego thread?

The pirate set is so very tempting, but trying to avoid spending lots of money, and usually focus on technic :/ Hell the lunar lander is also tempting.

I have spaceship x 3, UCS x wing, and at least a dozen technic sets. I had the bucket wheel excavater sitting around collecting dust half finished for years and now finished it. (WTF - it was released in 2016? Time flies)

E: I'm not a batman fan at all but the UCS batmobile still looks awesome and is also tempting.

Thankfully, they grandfathered in the really old accounts (I've been selling since 2009), so almost nothing changed for me.
They even still let me use the old interface, which was dated looking in 2009.

I've got the 20 th Anniversary Slave 1, Destiny Bounty and the Barracuda Bay to build. Slave 1 I got for my birthday around this time last year and I've just not had the space for it. Same issue with the pirate bay, I snapped it up and have stored in the garage for my daughter when she's a bit older. Destiny Bounty I got for a steal (£40, opened box, but unbuild with sealed bags inside) from a guy in next village over who was selling some sets to make room for a home office. I've also put it in the garage for the time being.

Slave 1 I'd like to make, but I keep telling myself to save it as a reward for actually finishing my sorting. I've got maybe 25 % of my childhood Lego to sort through and then I feel I can really get into making MOCs and not just amassing more Lego for the sake of having it.

10193 Medieval Village is probably the set that really brought me kicking and screaming out of my dark age. I am building Pirate Island at the moment, but I am trying to take it really slowly to savour it.

I went on a binge a couple of years ago and built about £1k worth in ten days, so I didn't build much for about a year after. Consequently my Pile of Shame is pretty big again:

- All of second wave of HP sets, including the advent calendar - and the first wave of Fantastic Beasts sets.

Large sets:

- 10210: Imperial Flagship
- 10234: Sydney Opera House
- 21318: Tree House
- 10264: Corner Garage (but I only bought this a couple of weeks ago)

Trains:

- 10233: Horizon Express
- 7939: Cargo Train

And a bunch of small sets and promos, e.g.

- 79107: Comanche Camp
- 31078: Tree House Treasures
- 40290: 60 Years of the LEGO Brick
- 40291: Creative Personalities

I emptied my pile of shame during the first 3 weeks of lockdown. I knocked out the book shop modular, the 2017 Star Wars Advent Calendar, some Hidden Side set, the UCS Millennium Falcon, Metalbeard's One Man Band, and Emmett's House.

The Hidden Side and Advent Calendar were given to me by a colleague about to move to Europe and was trimming things down. The Metalbeard and House sets were on sale at Kroger during my weekly supply runs. Now I'm out.

My pile of shame is pretty much only bonus freebies that I really didn't want bad enough to tear open. Like I have the VIP set still in its bag, the gingerbread house from this past christmas, the christmas train from a few years ago, etc.

Anything else I buy, that poo poo is getting built day 1.

Currently I have on the Shame Pile (to hand):

- Assembly Square
- Ideas Treehouse
- that small Spider-Man Venice set

And I’m currently building 31097, the Creator Townhouse.

In storage I’ve got
- Old Fishing Store
- London Bus
- Volkswagen Beetle
- Brick Bank
And a few other smaller sets. Unfortunately, I can’t get into that storage for some time. :(

Also grabbed that little Obi Wan's hut set since it's $23 last week and it's actually pretty neat. It's a cool looking little building and I love that it actually folds into a complete structure instead of just being a facade like most Lego buildings. I wish Yoda's hut was like that. lots of nice little details and I dig that it comes with a tiny Leia hologram and a practice droid. The minifigure selection really could not be less exciting to me since I already have at least 4 of each (probably have like 30 R2D2s now lol), but I don't know what else I would have expected from a set called "Obi Wans hut". I wish poncho Luke had come in this one instead of the Landspeeder. I think I'd have just skipped the landspeeder

I ordered the TIE fighter helmet on the 19th, got shipping email on the 21st and received it on the 22nd. My shipping speed may appear artificially faster than normal as I have it shipped to my work office (to thwart porch pirates) and I think they get priority. Fedex delivers there by 10 AM but the trucks don’t come to my housing addition until late afternoon. This was also shipping from their warehouse in IL to southwest Ohio, so that’s probably a quick journey anyway. I also ordered the A-wing at midnight on the 1st, so hoping for shipping notification tomorrow or Monday.

I ordered the A-Wing around when it went live on the site. Shipped last night. FedEx claims they'll deliver it tomorrow.

I would say honestly before all this happened, in the last year their deliveries have sped up a lot- and they weren't slow before. But now it's close to Amazon Prime levels.

I’ll buy a set with the intention of saving it for a weekend or a particularly stressful or boring day sometimes but mostly I get right into it. Right now I have the lovely avengers truck set that I will immediately dismantle but probably integrate the minifigs of into my marvel area.

Haha now this morning FedEx is saying Friday for my a-wing, which seems like too much of a reactionary swing in the other direction from saying it was shipped yesterday and would be delivered today.

It's always weird to see what sets randomly skyrocket in price. Someone was selling the SW Rebels Ghost on a FB group used out of box for $275 and I was preparing to make a lol comment about the price, but then I looked it up and that is a pretty average price for it now with new ones going well over that.

I almost picked that set up like 10 times just cause it was a cool looking ship, but ultimately didn't bother because I don't care about Rebels at all. Whoops.

I don't think I have ever bought a set that randomly just starting going way past the normal OOP markup like that. I guess the mini batmobile, but that seemed like a given.

I ordered the A-Wing pretty much right when it went up, got a ship notice early in the morning, but it hasn't moved from "shipment information sent" - which I kinda just assumed was because it was the weekend.

I generally don't sit on sets - unless I buy a bunch at once, then I just try to pace myself to not build too quick or to save for days where I'm bored. I sat on the 1989 Batmobile for a week or two since I wanted it to be a thing to do over the winter break.

The closest thing I have to a shame is the 900 piece classic box that I got from walmart when it was 50% off and then never did anything with.

Yeah, it’s trash. Sellers list one thing, then will either not ship it because they don’t actually have it in stock and will gently caress around for months with fake tracking numbers so it takes forever to actually cancel the drat thing and get your money back, or will ship some other crappier brand and hope you either don’t notice or will take a few bucks back during arbitration. It’s fine for custom minifigs and small stuff lego doesn’t do, such as The 7 from The Boys, just so long as you’re aware purchases are a crapshoot. Yourwobb.com has been consistently excellent to buy from though, with ~11 day shipping, communicative service, and actual inventory listed. Right now things are a lot more expensive because shipping has ground to a halt and skyrocketed in price.
