Aside from no legal basis how would they actually do that though? Almost none of the taxes sent to the feds are paid through the states, they're paid directly to the Treasury by employers or the companies that owe them.

They wouldn't. It was just a dumb shitpost hyperbole to counter the dumb shitpost presidents remark that it's unfair to Republicans to pay for blue States despite their GOP states raking in far more tax dollars per capita than they contribute.

more info on the wisconsin case which could doom the state to be a plaguelands forever

quote:

But the case threatens much more than a single order that Palm handed down to deal with a single emergency. Among other things, the Republican legislature asks the Republican state Supreme Court to permanently strip Palm — and anyone else who holds her job in the future — of much of their ability to swiftly respond to a public health emergency.

Yeah but they're gonna be hit way lighter than real jobs, like doctors and poo poo getting laid off en masse in a pandemic while ad tech is still booming

there is absolutely no such thing as a safe "do nothing" job because literally all it takes is your company to contract labor management engineer (which they will to cut costs), who will then p easily figure out you ARE contributing basically nothing and guess whose next on the chopping block?

edit: this isn't to be a dick or anything I just worry some goons might think they are actually safer at their jobs than they really are

there are institutional white collar positions that have specific knowledge bases that are impossible to cut, regardless of whether that person fucks off all day every day beyond the one or two times a month they're required. Paying them is significantly cheaper than solving the problem.

The larger the enterprise, the more of these there are, especially in IT.

Kushner not being investigated 24/7 is probably the single biggest failing of the dem led house. He's got no qualifications other than being the presidents son in law, just openly grofts, and even openly leaked classified stuff to hostile governments. He's second only to maybe Barr in the damage he's doing but is a much easier target. But lol, nope.

Oh, for sure. I'm lucky in that I'm only 27 with only a cat to feed but quite a few people who were cut with me were in their 40s and 50s with 15 years experience and families etc.

For me, at this point, I'd rather eat dirt and grasshoppers than generate profits for some small business tyrant / jeff bezos-type in this pandemic

I do a sort of care metrics thing that specifically translates to cash rewards from CMS for the insurance company I work for

I'm saving money and minimizing my expenses though, as everyone should do.

I've been sitting in a NOC/DC not really doing poo poo for a decade (well I did a lot till I learned I was way underpaid and doing coworkers poo poo that they should have been doing) on third shift. Gotta have a warm body there. I'm gonna ride that pine till they drag me out or close up the DC. I got at least another year or two.

I was broke as poo poo and made less than twelve bucks an hour until 2012

All my mandatory expenses are minimized, we share one car, we own a modest home, and our mandatory recurring expenses are minimal, once you learn about being poor it never really goes away.
