They also all think they're going to be the next fuehrer once they knife the competition and probably expect to be betrayed by all their buddies they minute they turn their backs. The whole movement is built on resentment and channeling rage at imagined enemies. I don't imagine there's a lot of genuine relationships or emotional support in an environment like that. Plus they're all a bunch of fat or scrawny loser nerds who hate those parts of themselves and try to displace self-loathing with aggression, and that probably doesn't work when you surround yourself with people who reflect the same things back at you that you hate about yourself.

I've always figured that like other terrorist groups, the Alt-Right recruits from young men who have nothing, absolutely nothing, going on in their lives. These guys have filled that emptiness in their lives with media like video games and movies, and that was an easy way to get them in. Hey you know that thing you base your entire life around? There are things not made for you, and that means you're under attack! The fact not every video game is a hyper violent space marine shoot 'em up means you're culture is under attack. And from there they go "don't have a good job? Immigrants" "Don't have good education? Non Whites are getting all the breaks!" "Can't get a girlfriend? Women are too brainwashed by feminism to date a guy who knows every single Pokemon by heart!", its all "you don't have to change, its the world thats wrong!". Then from there you start getting into more hardcore white supremacy. The attraction of all this is that is absolves the adherant from any responsibility of their own life. Everything is everyone elses fault, and that is the most attractive thing, and it goes hand in hand if you can get rid of anyone who isn't like you, everything will be perfect.

Yea, I haven't seen anyone seriously suggest getting rid of thanksgiving, mostly they just want to get rid of the myths of the benevolent Settlers being friends with the friendly natives. Educating people about how Native Americans have been treated seems to be more important than getting rid of it.
