Making a very wise use of part of my boomer reparations check I bought the BudK Kukri from a Amazon reseller because I've always wanted a Kukri and I wanted to see how bad it was going to be for shits and giggles. It showed up a few days ago and it's impressive how low quality it is compared to the similarly priced bowie knife I bought off Aliexpress a couple months back. Being dull is fine but the bevel is hosed up and needed to be reshaped, the metal around the handle has sharp edges and had to be filed down, the wood scales appear to be secured okay but also rattle around like they're gonna fall off, the fuller blood groove is a homeopathic scratch on the blade, the maker apparently did the "INDIA" on the blade with a centerpunch instead it being engraved or etched like you'd expect, the handles on the small utility knife and hone (dunno which is which they're both dull) are so small they're near impossible to hold, the sheath is garbage but at least mine doesn't seem to be coated with shoe polish.

It took about 3 hours total with a mill file, sharpening puck and sharpie to get it "working sharp." I have chronic allergies and sneezed a couple times while doing this, and the blade started developing a spit patina.

Comparatively, the China bowie just needed a few passes with emery cloth on the handle, but is otherwise fine, and I batonned it through a piece of firewood and it didn't break.
