Also the Pandemic is pretty much wiping out the entire small business enterprises because the vast majority of them rely on non-saudi labour and the government wont provide support to them. The government also gave companies cart blanche to fire as many workers as they need to stay afloat. The government also announced a pretty severe austerity plan and it looks like any hopes to develop the economy away from oil (a.k.a. vision 2030) has been permanently shot in the dick. So Poland, in classic form, has managed to take something stupid from the US and apply a bizarre twist. Yesterday there was (or maybe still is) an "Entrepreneur's Strike" demanding OPENING 'ER UP, or at least more government money. They are casting themselves as brave warriors against socialist oppression. They decry police brutality and say that they are being disappeared like dissidents under communist times. Also are aligned with the "kill the jews" party. But the party in power is fascist as gently caress. Their politicians and voter base alternate between calling the strikers rich tax-evading leeches on society, and evil leftist-backed communists. So now you have a really weird right wing circlejerk of calling each other lefty socialist commies, while both being slightly different flavors of fascism. The ruling fascists are very effectively dismantling democracy, have packed the courts and the supreme court and turned media into state propaganda, and rail against the evil EU oppression whenever the EU gently says please don't destroy democracy. They are religious zealots who have state propaganda literally call left-wingers devil worshippers. They make Fox News look subtle. A while ago, before the last state election they trotted out a priest on TV who said that he would sooner vote for the devil than the evil centrist party that is the main viable opposition. One thing that makes many right wingers (including my parents who steadfastly vote for them) very angry with them, however, is that they claim to be against tax evasion (which they "prove" with very creative accounting) and have instituted a small subsidy for people who have young children. Literally their only good policy. The other fascists are a coalition of the rich libertarian tax-is-theft, Brexit is great, down with worker's rights and gently caress the minimum wage variety, plus religious zealots but harder, plus those who proudly state "kill the jews". There is a pretty strong overlap. Since the Polish right wing very closely cribs talking points from Britain, who crib it from the US, they also claim that "deep state is full of pedophiles and child-trafficking because LGBT people are evil. Except in their minds the gay agenda is advanced by the party that claims LGBT people are pedophiles indoctrinating children to abuse them. So, I guess take the US chud protests, subtract guns, split into two equal halves and have them angry with each other using the exact same slogans. Oh, also the genius entrepreneurs who JUST WANT TO WORK were begging on twitter for people to bring them blankets, warm tea and powerbanks to charge their phones.

I think I read somewhere that the US workforce is 160 million so if that is correct it's over 20%. That probably missed a bunch of contractors and gig economy workers, and wouldn't include business owners who have gone bust because of this. It also wouldn't include what I assume is a reasonably large number of people who had jobs previously but aren't eligible for UI for some reason.
