Torquemada posted:Some of this fits one of my favourite films, What’s Up Doc. Ryan O’Neal is engaged to Madeline Kahn for about half the movie, then leaves her for Barbara Steisand. She plays a pain in the rear end, and he’s constantly annoyed by her for most of the first half. The only thing that doesn’t fit is the park: the film ends with an almost unparalleled car chase through San Fransisco, including a very famous pane of glass scene and also a Chinese dragon, which I’m sure you’d remember. Well technically it ends at the airport, but that also doesn't fit. What's Up Doc was the first thing I thought of too, probably because I just watched it like 3 days ago.

I have no idea if this was a full film or what, but I remember seeing a single scene once, years ago. Most likely wasn't actual porn, despite the description. Man, dressed in classic noir clothes (long coat, fedora/trilby) walks into a seedy bar, probably full of people? A woman, either naked, or wearing only suspenders, squats on his hat, he's possibly asking her a question, and then she gets told off by another woman who tells her something along the lines of "how many times have I told you not to piss on the customers" as the guy walks further into the bar. I'm not sure if it actually existed or if it's some kind of fever dream.

My wife described a movie she thinks is from the 70's where a man, possibly American, is in a small British village and does something to piss off the locals and they form an angry mob and break into a house he's hiding in, smashing the windows and breaking down the doors to get him. I asked if she was misremembering parts of The Wicker Man and she said no.

Ok also remembering from film class a movie that we saw a clip from but not the whole movie. I think it was maybe a Fellini but I can’t remember exactly. I’m pretty sure it’s Italian. The clip was sort of a behind the scenes about them using an elaborate camera crane setup to film a balcony scene or something like that. I remember a lot of gold and yellow colors from the scene. And maybe some ornate masonry. The movie looked really good. Sorry this is really vague

I remember watching 3 minutes of a movie and I can never seem to find out what it is... When I was younger, I was watching WNDS (a ind. New Hampshire station) that used to show all sorts of movies and this looked like a 70s or 80s movie, I am guessing horror. It was two military guys who are in a cave or in the jungle trying to find their way out and they are arguing they are going in circles, one of the guys says that he has been dropping ammo as a maker and they've come back and pulls a bullet out of the ground. I've never been able to find out what this movie is! Also, while I am here I guess, there was another movie where the first five minutes is this guy trying to escape the woods and gets skewered by someone as he is about to escape while he is traveling through like a pond or bog or something. The movie is basically most dangerous game type of movie but with corporate assholes hunting people but back in the late 80s or early 90s.

When I was a kid, I saw a short animated film on British TV. Was back in the early 90s, wouldn't surprise me if the film was from the 80s. It was less than an hour, maybe only half hour or 45 minutes. The film didn't have lots of dialogue, the whole story was narrated by a male voice. It starts with about a boy who is walking through some kind of swamp or blasted wasteland and is then approached by a wizard/sorceror who tricks him into coming to his castle. The castle has a magical escalator for stairs, and at the top of the escalator there are 2 statues of big black cats like panthers. Once inside the castle the boy become a prisoner and slave to the wizard. He has to work in sone kind of pit, or underneath a cauldron or something like that, where he gets covered in slime. I think there might also have been a girl prisoner too, but not sure about that. If they try to leave, the two black cat statues come to life and turn towards them and growl, so they can't go down the escalator. At the end the boy uses the wizard's spell book to fight him and transform into various creatures; the wizard transforms as well to counter whatever the boy becomes. So the boy becomes a fly. The wizard becomes the obvious thing, a spider, to get him. The spider still has the wizard's face, but with eight black legs. Then the boy immediately transforms back into a human, and slams the spell book shut on the spider-wizard, crushing him. With the wizard dead the castle crumbles, the kid/kids escape. The aftermath shows one of the cat statues still briefly standing, then toppling over. I've spent literally hours googling and looking through lists of animated films on IMDB and other places, with no luck.

That's weirdly similar to the 1978 Czechoslovakian film Krabat L' Apprenti Sorcier with really specific details such as a runaway kid tricked into working for a sorceror, wizard's spell book used for a shapeshifter duel and a black spider with the wizard's face, but the rest is all different. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBG54ScnyHY

So there's a movie I saw that I think takes place in a future dystopia kind of thing. The only scene I can remember is the main character (who I think is a cop?) goes to visit a gangster who has used his debtors as living statues. He has them all in hosed paralysis but with wires connected to their nerves and stuff so he can torture them. I think at the end of the movie the gangster dies but I'm not sure on that. Sorry I don't have more to go on, it's a weird scene that came into my head and I'm curious what movie it's from.

Two isolated scenes I dimly recall from my childhood: A sci fi film probably from the 80s. A bad guy has an energy whip and uses it to chop a statue in half. Someone is trying to burn evidence and gets his hand chopped off by the whip before he can finish. A horror, also probably 80s. A guy is in some sort of factory with a machine that's mashing something up, possibly cotton. There are rats he talks to and gives names. One of the rats pees, he says something like "you're no lady, Gertrude" and throws it in the masher. The killer approaches him from behind, he gives a reaction shot scream, then gets shoved in the masher.
