if its anything like new york or boston, the trains are like 2 minutes apart and still can't handle the poo poo tons of people all commuting at once and then a signal breaks or there is a dumb rear end delay or something and it just snowballs into hell

tyrelhill posted:if its anything like new york or boston, the trains are like 2 minutes apart and still can't handle the poo poo tons of people all commuting at once It's this^ The busiest lines have trains every 2 minutes, literally just enough time to get the train out of the station and a new one in. It's also not quite as bad as that gif makes it seem, there's always a bit more space in the middle of the carriage. But yeah it's very squashed. Fortunately personal hygiene standards are reasonably high. e: it's also nowhere near as bad as other places I've been that have similarly packed subways. No one tries to board until everyone has gotten off, which means that the people standing in the doorway can actually move to allow people off the train. Rome was just as packed but as soon as the doors open there's a massive crush of people trying to push in, meaning none of the people trying to alight can actually do so and every at single stop the train is held up for like 10 minutes while this ridiculous crush sorts itself out. Tokyo trains stop for like 45 seconds at each station, despite the crowds. voiceless anal fricative has a new favorite as of 21:53 on May 10, 2020 |

Looks good, I'll give it a read, thanks Megillah Gorilla posted:Paris 1900 World Fair. Footage by Thomas Edison. See it can be done! Might need a few more lanes to hit 100 mph though. Although, I remember a conveyor floor in an airport that could change speeds by sliding the floor diagonally. Like restricting the flow of a river, narrower = faster. Then when it was time to get off, it widened again to slow down. [edit] Huh, don't even need that, neat! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvfF4TeXz7U Ak Gara has a new favorite as of 09:22 on May 11, 2020 |
