COVID-420 posted:can you cite a link or a source or anything that shows that fomites are not a significant form of transmission? Sanitizing door handles, public transit handles, etc is good because hundreds of people touch those throughout the day regularly. A can of beans or a package of chocolate chips-a-hoy or a pack of batteries at a store has probably only been touched by the one stocker the night before at 2am (if not longer), and maybe 1-2 indecisive people before you (and you can just grab the one that isnt in the front). like there's been no real indication that surface contact from grabbing a pack of M&Ms from Target is a big vector, especially if you have some diligence in handwashing. postal packages are a bit iffy, it's a good idea not to bring the package inside and leave it outside, take the item out and wash your hands because the postal package has been probaly been handled a lot more. if you'r real concerned you can wipe the item off as well but generally it was probably only toucehd somewhere between 48 hrs to 100 hrs ago depending on how long it was in transit. amazon warehouses are disease factories and it ships quick so those you could err on the side of caution, but viral load will def have been decreased a lot in 48-hrs and it's extremely small, not zero, but low enough that i wouldn't lose sleep over if you forgot. airline seats is purely performative, i mean sure wash the arm rest/tray because that poo poo is never cleaned, but as they said, your biggest risk is that you're in a tiny metal tube jammed with 100-300 people for 1-5hrs blowing partially recirculated air non-stop throughout the sardine can and justr injecting that poo poo straight into your respiratory system. Antifa Turkeesian posted:Sanitizing your airline seat isn't going to do poo poo because you're surrounded by hundreds of people for hours and there's no escape from breathing in their recycled exhalations. It's just propaganda to convince people they won't die from flying, but they will definitely die from flying. I've seen my last movie in a theater and flown on my last airplane. I'm at peace with it. actionjackson posted:thanks. For me it's mainly about if I have to cough having it not go everywhere, but obviously a scarf only offers some protection against that. I'm very good at keeping distance and constantly sanitizing though. However I am kind of curious about products I buy at the store - someone else with the virus could have touched them previously, and there's really nothing I can do about that, right? I just leave anything that doesn't need to go in the fridge in the garage for a couple of days (a closet would work if you don't have a garage) and wipe down anything that needs to be refrigerated before putting it in.

Pretty much same, over a year ago I got a resturant date sticker dispenser to control leftovers and it never really took off. I've since moved the dispenser to the garage, and tag everything with a sticker as I unload it Maybe not everything, but perhaps the most prominent item in each box (I have a bunch of old liquor/beer cases that I use to hold bags of loose poo poo)

I guess as with people whose employers took a long time to switch to remote work at the beginning, I would suggest trying to stall by taking vacation time or something if necessary in the hopes that by the time that's over they will have given up.
