Beautiful gradient on the cockpit there.

I made the exact same mistake. It was only when I opened the image properly and zoomed in I saw its the "full" size one.

It looks rad as hell.

Such an awesome model.

I was going to contact the model store I go to about it but I've not bothered as I assume since they've not announced anything to do with it nor put it on their store, they've either not decided what to do with them or people they know have already reserved them. I can't imagine they get many of them either way.

I'm curious to know what you all spend on models and materials for the hobby a year. I was doing a bit of mental math and I'd say, disregarding conventions and a couple of big ticket single purchase items like an airbrush, I probably spend about $600 a year, give or take. I probly spend more than most people on hobby materials, But the fact that I paint at a glacial pace means I don't spend a ton of money on models.

So far this year I've spent about $73 in local currency on just models. Most expensive thing was a box of IA Thunderbolt fighters. Everything else, barring a DE Succubus as well, has been what I've been able to win on auctions. I decided to follow SRM's idea of keeping track of what I've bought over the years (because I'm also really OCD about that and has saved pretty much ever transaction notification I've received.) I can tell you I've bought 5 models so far, with the only unit being the Thunderbolts.
I think I've spent like $30 on paints so far and $23 on brushes.

I'd probably be in the ball park of $1500-2500 a year ($AU) so 750-1250 US

Almost 100% paints, washes, basing textures and airbrush supplies.

I have so, so many unpainted old hammer and Guard stuff I could paint non stop for years and never run out.

I'll occasionally buy a single one off like a Necromunda gang or a single character model if I feel like something a bit different.

I've spent around $300 this year. Last year I was buying a lot of eldar models, so I spent a lot more then, but I also sold off a lot of Fantasy models etc, so I probably ended up actually spending around $600ish out of pocket, not counting the 3d-printer I bought last summer.

I'm at a natural disadvantage because my wife literally never spends money No matter how reasonable my budget is for my stuff it looks like I'm spending all the money. She just recently replaced a laptop that I bought as a Christmas present for her in 2014. She spent $250 on it. It's the most I can remember spending on herself in at least 5 years.

It sounds nice but it makes me feel like a dick whenever I spend any money.

Yeah this helps a lot. I have a good backlog of built but unpainted models so trying to keep myself from buying things until I get a few units painted keeps the costs down

When I first came back to wargaming, I saw a link to an article posted about serious issues with GW and chessex dice. The conclusion was that those dice were significantly more likely to roll ones. People here were kind enough to point out that the study is errs in a demonstrable way.

The study data came from testing reportedly done using an (undescribed) mechanical contraption to roll thousands of dice and record the results. At first blush, this makes sense. You'd expect that if there was a deviation from the statistically assumed outcomes, it would be tiny. Thousands and thousands of rolls would be necessary to establish the validity of a result.

Where things go off the rails is that instead of showing a tiny deviation from the expected result, the study data shows an enormous one. So enormous, in fact, that a trivial amount of dice rolling would, statistically, be expected to demonstrate the same pattern. No one else has been able to do it. This means the study's data is not reproducable. It is junk.

Whether the study was a hoax or a huge amount of work undone by a systemic flaw (see the undescribed mechanical rolling system), it doesn't matter. Just ignore it. There is, however, a real problem with dice these days. GW markets and sells nonsense like this:

Symbols for both 6 and 1, non-standard, irregularly placed counters on the remaining sides, translucent dice. Good luck trying to follow your opponent's dice rolling.

My old FLGS took a bunch of those sets and split them to make individual sets for each chapter. This also helped make them actually usable.
