Can he botch? Listen jerk His hurracanrana will never work Jumps the ropes that was nice This match was recorded twice Total Extreme Wrestling is the latest booking simulator/spreadsheet program from Adam Ryland and Grey Dog Software. Okay that's slightly incorrect, the demo came out last week but the release date has been pushed out by two weeks so that they can fix up any bugs and issues but we still have two months of in-game time to play around with and saves carry over. Instead of most other wrestling games where you actually play matches, you're instead running the day to day operations and booking shows. So while you're not going to be dry humped by a mummy or forced to play as the most obnoxious protagonists in a sports game of all time, you can be the Vince Russo of your dreams although I can promise you that there will probably not be a Viagra on a pole match. Probably ARE WE PLAYING THE WWE? We're going to be using the default database that came with the game. The balance of real world mods are all over the place while the database is built up from the ground up and so things just work. SO WHO ARE WE PLAYING AS? That is up to you, the viewers. There are a shitload of promotions that you can pick from and we can also build our own promotion. Building our promotion has the added benefit of it being easier to populate the roster with goons. The active promotions of the Cornellverse If there isn't a promotion that you're interested in then just chuck a promotion name, an idea for what it's all about and a location my way. IS THERE A WIN CONDITION? My win conditions will be if a goon gets signed to USPW/SWF or BHOWTG and has a PPV title match. That'll mean that one of our boys/girls have made it and would be a pretty good feather in the cap. Alternatively it'll involve us getting to the national level and running shows on another continent. I'm too lazy to create a wrestler right now, but that is an A+ thread title and reminds me of that time Triple H decided to be a huge dork and demanded that he "must not be shown in a vulnerable or prone position" in reviews of whichever Smackdown vs. RAW game came out that year. Naturally, this led to at least one reviewer making a point to include a large screenshot of HHH getting his rear end kicked. I wish I could remember what magazine or website that was.

Dash Rendar posted:Is that all there is? I thought there's been more. Anyways, I love it! Will add a wrestler soon. That gives me an opportunity to show just how you create workers. I'm using José Silva as an example although my computer doesn't play nice with accented letters unless I'm using the on-screen keyboard. There is a fair bit more going on but a lot of it isn't particularily relevant to the type of game that I'm running so I'm just not really acknowledging it. Loyalty relates to being loyal to a certain promotion which means that they're more likely to stick fast through thick and thin unless they get a massive contract. You can then set the loyalty to being true born which essentially means that you'll never leave that promotion unless pushed out. On the left we have contracts, skills, popularity, attributes, business, job history, legacy and alter ego. Contracts & business aren't relevant because one is for setting pre-existing contracts and the other is only something that matters to the AI when that character is running a promotion. Likewise with job history, it doesn't really matter unless you want me to put in a little bit of fluff how your guy has worked a couple of shows or a tour elsewhere. Alter ego is just for if your character uses a different gimmick or character occasionally while legacy is for if your character retires/dies and the gimmick is inherited by someone. But on to skills I can obviously just set each stat manually but that's boring. With the quick skill creation, I can instantly build their stats. So with what I've been given I can just go with José Silva being a young technician, who has above average in-ring skills, has average athleticism, is somewhat entertaining and is good looking. I'll keep the potential caps random just because you could be a dogshit worker with a very high level of improvement or you could be a rock solid worker that will never really be much more than that. You then get randomly generated skills; as you can see José got an insane roll on his sex appeal and came out pretty solid with his performance skills. Fundamentals and mental skills could be a little better but he could slot into the midcard of most indie promotions pretty well and his performance stats could see him getting a developmental contract from one of the big three. Popularity works in a similar way. Put in an individual number or you can just set them to a certain popularity in each region. Now you might be saying, that seems like a lot of work if you're creating a bunch of characters. Well there's the quick fill to quickly add a lot of generic workers to regions. This is a new feature in the series and was introduced in World of Mixed Martial Arts 5 which is the MMA version of the series. You can generate a maximum of 100 workers, broadcasters & companies with any mix of talent levels and roles. It makes it much easier when creating a generic universe Once we settle on a company then I'll get stuck into the nitty gritty of making a promotion along with some other things in the editor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Forgot to add a poll https://www.poll-maker.com/poll2897555x10704327-85 Select which promotions you'd like to run Testekill fucked around with this message at 11:11 on May 1, 2020 |

It looks like at the moment we're leaning creating a promotion so it's time that I show you the ins and outs of creating a promotion. I'm going to leave the poll open for a couple of days but it's as good a time as any to get stuck into this. As you can see, there are 88 promotions in the database; they're a mix of active, defunct and yet to open. We have the fill button down in the bottom right which lets us populate the world with promotions just like how it works with workers. Our example promotion is a little promotion that I have whipped up calling Headlock Wrestling Association running out of the Great Lakes region. * Property of means that the promotion is owned by a broadcaster. Generally you get money from your owner and will almost always get a spot on TV for them even if it is just filling timeslots. * A Home Arena is mostly fluff. If you're running in the region where that arena is then you will generally run out of that arena by default. This is mostly for AI to simulate ECW running out of the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. * Prestige is a measure of how important or respected a company is. It can ebb and flow in with your show quality or if something occurs that paints the company in a bad light. * Momentum is exactly that; when you have no momentum you can do nothing right, when you are running on all cylinders then you can do nothing wrong. It's to simulate if a promotion is in a funk or not. * You can limit the size of your promotion. This is actually a really helpful thing to do as you don't want to get plunged into a national battle with the big dogs as soon as you reach the same size. That way you can lock yourself at a Medium sized promotion until you have the manpower to make it. * Fix Belts just means that the AI will not create extra titles for that promotion and just stick with whatever is already there. * Show Priority means that your promotion either builds to larger events or for television. Generally you want to focus on events because they have a tendency to be on PPV and make you more money. * Loyalty functions just like with workers. If your promotion signs a younger worker from your wrestling school then they become loyal. * Young Lion System means that the fans will expect wrestlers that have been active for less than 3 years and have under 25 experience to be there as mostly jobbers and to lose to more experienced personnel. I'll get into stuff like Figureheads, Backstage Rules, Production Levels and Drug Policy when we get rolling. Products have been rejigged from 2016. Now you can set a core product and a current product. What this means is that if you want to change your product during gameplay then you can change it to anything but the closer it matches your core product then the smoother the transition will be. Going from PG-Rated Sports Entertainment to regular Sports Entertainment is a piece of piss but going from a serious sports product to a telenovela is exceptionally jarring, will take a long time to transition and will probably have a negative impact on business because it's an absurdly dramatic shift. holy gently caress there are a lot of products Face/Heel divide is if there are set good and bad guys. You can then set it to be strictly enforced where every match must be good vs evil and there's a penalty for face vs face/heel vs heel matches or you can set it to loosely enforced where the lines are a bit more blurred or if it's just not enforced. You can also set a weight split between heavyweights and junior heavyweights and set if the company uses managers and stables. The checklist underneath is a little more important though. Spinal-impact and high risk moves add a bit more excitement to the product but also have higher risk of injuring a worker. You can also set if a match is called in the ring by default or if it's scripted backstage. A worker needs roughly 60 psychology to call a match on the fly so scripting is important if you're using a bunch of rookies or lesser talented workers. You can also set the level of women's wrestling in the company as well. Match focus and angle focus relate to how the game scores the show based on matches and angles * With a regular match focus, the rating is calculated as 70% of the main event rating, 20% of the best match (other than the main event) and 10% of the average of the rest of the undercard. * With main event spotlight focus, the rating is 90% of the main event rating and 10% of the average of the rest of the show. * with a three ring circus is calculated as the average of the main and the two other best matches on the show. * With the ensemble focus , the rating is calculated as 40% of the main event, 40% of the best match (besides the main event) and 20% of the average of the rest of the card. * with a regular angle focus, the rating is calculated as 70% of the best angle, 20% of the second best angle and 10% of the third best angle. * with a tight focus, the rating is calculated as 90% of the best angle and 10% of the second best * With a highlights focus, the rating is calculated as being the average of the 3 best rated angles * With a consistent focus, the rating is calcualted as being the average of every angle. gently caress alright, that's the product section done. Popularity is exactly the same for workers. Schedule relates to how the AI should try to run the schedule, contracts is just for preset contracts. Hiring Rules lets you set rules for hiring talent where you can do stuff like limiting them to under a specific age, skill requirements, size requirements, they have to be unemployed or no foreign wrestlers. Finally you can set up branding for the show so you can utilise a brand split and the estimated roster tells you the minimum number of people that company should employ so that they can avoid penalties for looking amateurish.

I've been considering picking this up, but I figured I'd wait until the "official" release and maybe for a decent skin to be made. Though yours already looks different from the screenshots I saw at the release earlier this week. I say make our own Goon promotion. For a wrestler submission I'll dig out the character I played in a couple short lived WWWrpg games. Testekill posted:
In WWWRPG Skyhawk was a solid mid-upper carder at his promotion. A reliable worker who and a great team player, always making sure his teammates and opponents got a chance to shine even if they were booked to lose. Skyhawk is a confident performer who carries himself as a larger than life figure just barely short of a comics super hero or anime character in the ring. Skyhawk loves wrestling and will always advocate for its celebration. He's extremely grateful for his ability to live his dream, and most of all thankful for the constant sacrifices made by his greatest fan and supporter; the unassuming, everyday person that sleeps quietly behind the mask every time Skyhawk laces up his real face. ~November 2019, a diner in Florida~ Thomas Lloyd Zippy Deverell Thomas Lloyd- So my grandma died a couple of weeks ago I felt myself nearly inhale the burger that I was eating although that was honestly better than actually eating that oily slab of mystery meat; I hadn't been home for some time due to my touring and hadn't caught up with any friends in some time with Thomas being one of my better friends. A couple of years younger than me and almost as wrestling obsessed but he didn't really have the athleticism to actually become a wrestler so he just lived vicariously through me. I wasn't exactly anything special either but Zippy Deverell was a name that was at the very least very rarely working a featured match on some shindie or other. I was always a bit worried that he'd end up doing something stupid and he was like a dumb puppy that would follow anyone that knew that his family was flush with cash. I honestly should have expected what he was about to hit me with. ZD- loving hell dude, why drop that on me when I'm eating? TL- Shut up man, you know how my family is rich as poo poo yeah? ZD- I am aware yes TL- So I'm getting a ton of money from my inheritance and I'm gonna do it. ZD- Do what? TL- Start a wrestling promotion ZD- Tommy no TL- Tommy yes ZD- You've never run a business before and you're 18. Anyone that you hire is gonna eat you alive TL- And that's why I want you to run it, you're a wrestler and you're older than me. You've got the experience and I've got the money ZD- Experience? I haven't even been wrestling for a full year Tommy. You're absolutely delusional if you think that anyone is going to take us seriously. TL- Look I wanted to become a wrestler and couldn't, this is my dream. You think I'm looking forward to being shuffled off to whatever college my parents bribe to get me in? We both know that's what's gonna happen as soon as I finish school. I leaned backwards in our booth and cradled my head in my hands. Thomas was a nice guy but he was one of the densest people that I had ever met; most people in the industry can smell a money mark from a mile away and take advantage of them without a seconds thought and I really didn't want that happening to him. I also knew that he was going to start up the promotion no matter what and there was nothing that I could do to stop him from making the worst mistake of his life. Maybe the best thing I could do was to get involved just to protect him from himself. ZD- There's nothing that is a better use of that money? TL- Nope ZD- And there's no stopping you doing this? TL- Probably not no ZD- You'd be better off just setting that money on fire but fine. On two conditions TL- Aw dude thanks, what are the conditions? ZD- Nobody knows that you're the boss. Last thing we need is some rear end in a top hat coming in thinking that you're an easy mark. I might know a guy that we could say is the owner so that'll give us some cover. TL- Sure sure, no worries. What's the second one? ZD- We run in a different town, I doubt you need your parents talking poo poo about you running something so low-class as a wrestling promotion. The grin on his face slowly spread and, before I knew it, he had leapt up from his seat and hugged me. I tried to hold it back but I also felt a smile coming on, we had talked about it for years growing up that we'd eventually either start wrestling together or run shows and I couldn't believe that this was happening. Whipping out his phone, he was showing me a few ideas for promotions and we quickly settled on a name and idea. Ignoring the yells of one customer to shut the gently caress up and leave I instead got started planning things out although our loud talking was clearly annoying some staff members. Thrown out at few hours later because I had been nursing the same burger and coffee for 2 hours but I was actually feeling pretty excited. Maybe this would be how I made my mark on the industry Rapid Pro Wrestling was originally a wrestling promotion running in Philadelphia during the 90s. Part of the infamous East Coast Wars where four companies vied for the Tri State market, it ended up going under and was bought out by Danger And Violence Extreme in 1998. DAVE was the undisputed number 3 promotion in the United States for almost a decade before a combination of injuries, financial issues and talent raids led to its closure in 2007 and, as far as we were concerned, the RPW name was now up for grabs and had fallen into the public domain. The next problem was pretty simple, we lived in Coral Springs, Florida and simply just decided that we'd run shows in Fort Lauderdale. The final issues were a little more difficult; we needed a product and a roster. We ended up settling on a more lucha libre inspired product since there was so much sports entertainment out there that we wanted to offer something at least a little different. I had established a few contacts over the past 9 months that I'd been wrestling and could probably form the core of the roster but I still needed to find a few more before we could really get started. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnny Aesthetic is a journeyman comedy worker based in California and has always been more of a weekend warrior than a full timer; He's done multiple jobber matches and skit appearances over the years but never really had a run with a name company which is a shame because he's quite good at the entertainment side of things From Lisbon to Quebec, Jose Silva is a talented grappler who has been plying the Canadian scene for a while now to no real success. This may be due to the fact that ACPW already has a Brazillian shooter called Mario Da Silva but in any case José has been working more shows south of the border and has been open to basing himself out of the United States. "The bat man" Bobson Dugnutt is a big burly brawler from Portland, Oregon who is just as at home slugging it out in the ring as he is in bars. Posessing both no sex appeal or star quality, he does cut a menacing figure and has a reputation as a legit bad rear end along with it. Having found a bit of success working the indie circuit in the deep south he's clearly looking to be signed as the monster of the week in one of the more traditional promotions. The Luchador with no face, Mascara claims to be wearing a mask from another universe where he was the hottest talent in Mexico. While clearly delusional, Mascara is genuinely talented but prone to mistakes and matches falling apart because he cannot see anything under the mask and has somehow decided that he should work a high flying style which is just out of his wheelhouse. It's a shame too because he's a drat fine technical wrestler but just doesn't use those skills. The masked Skyhawk is a high flyer based in California; solid on both the mat and in the sky, he has had a couple of stints working in Japan where he has developed in a dependable and reliable wrestler. While he's probably not going to be the biggest star, he'd make a great part of the midcard because of his willingness to make others look good. He is also notably extremely strong for his size and possesses a great athletic base as well. Infiernia is a youngster from Texas and is the protege of veteran luchadora Madame Bat. Possessing a good level of basic training and phenomenal athletic abilities while also no slouch in ring, Infiernia has a very high ceiling and could very well be on the radar of QAW or across the border. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- We at least had the base of our roster and are in a prime position to hire more talent thanks to our location. It'll take a little bit of work ahead of our big debut a few weeks away but I was certain that RPW could be a success. (I'll probably always be accepting created wrestlers just because of the nature of the game. Not always hiring but I'll keep track of anyone that is submitted but not hired)

So with all that hotdogging and grandstanding, we are finally getting started. OR SO YOU THOUGHT That's right, still more tutorials to go. This is the homepage where we get all of the various stories, results and random fluff. It's a good place to find out if a worker that you don't have shortlisted is coming out of contract or if you are wondering what another company is booking. To the right we have tabs for the diary, company wars, Power 500, Hall of Immortals, Halls of Fame, Annual Awards, Most Popular and Battles. The diary is the various upcoming shows and non-wrestling TV shows, company wars & battles is for when multiple companies are competing with each other in a region, the Power 500 is the year end top 500 wrestlers in the world while Annual Awards is the category year end awards. Most Popular just tells you the top 100 most popular workers in a region so who gives a poo poo because none of our people will show up in it. Finally we have the HOI and HOF; a hall of fame is a companies hall of fame while the hall of immortals is a wrestling wide hall of fame where it has an extremely difficult criteria to make it in. Welcome to the office which is button number two of the big cluster of 8 on the left. This is where the bulk of things take place when it comes to running the promotion, just look at that mess of options to the right. There are so many things there but luckily we aren't really in any position to need to cover them due to us being a pimple on the rear end of the industry at this point of time. I'm going to just cover the ones that are important for us at the moment that aren't self explanatory. Here is the roster screen; not much going on besides my avatar character and our owner. You will note that there isn't anything about the position on the card anywhere. That's because Ryland did away with the old set position on the card deal and instead gone with audience perception. A workers perception goes from major star to unimportant. Fans won't want someone unimportant all over the show and if the fans don't get behind a worker then that worker will struggle to rise up the card. It can just be down to a dud gimmick, not really having a big story to get them over or even just that the worker doesn't fit in with the rest of the roster. Next we have the Creative meeting tab, this tells us a few things. Franchise Players are the clear main eventers that you should be focusing on showcasing as much as possible. Next Big Things are the workers that are likely to be the future superstars of the company. If a worker doesn't seem that great but are shown under NBT then they have gotten a really good hidden destiny roll and will turn out really good if developed properly. Hot Prospects are the workers that, while probably not the faces of the company, have the potential to become important members of the roster. Talk the Talk focuses on wrestlers that are really good talkers. They can go out there and deliver a really good promo without a script and generally deliver on the stick. Show Stoppers are the workers that you can trust to tear the house down. They are the ones that are most likely to put on a show stealing performance. Ring Generals are the reliable workers that can carry even the poorest of talents to a watchable match. They'll almost always have very high basics, psychology and consistency. Who's Hot and Who's Not ties into a workers momentum. It ties into popularity gain, crowd reaction and a perception. A worker that has white hot momentum can do nothing wrong while someone with no momentum will struggle to get out of that hole without a bit of help. Hidden Gems are unsigned workers that the game has identified as wrestlers who could shine if given the opportunity. Oh look at that, Infierna is a hidden gem from the start. This might also mean that she has gotten a good destiny roll so she could be picked up by QAW or one of the lucha companies. Most of these workers would slot into the roster pretty easily but they're also generally pushing the point where they'll not want to sign with us due to our size being classified as insignificant. Alright, backstage rules. I don't know why Thomas is isolated due to the language barrier because both of us speak fluent English but I suppose I did also set him to speak Spanish fluently. No matter. What we care about is at the bottom with all the various rules that we can set backstage. Stricter rules will curb bad behaviour but have a negative effect on morale while looser rules will make everyone happy but also encourage bad behaviour. I generally just ban drugs backstage at any size and then bring in certain perks as things get better. Alliances are how you simulate the NWA. The COTT allows us to utilise talent trades and loans from fellow companies but also blocks us from running shows in a fellow alliance members territory. This isn't such a big deal when starting out but it gets very annoying when you're trying to expand but get blocked from a region because it interferes with another companies territory. It's also kind of easy mode so I'd rather not join We also have relationships. This lets us set up a relationship with another promotion where we can eventually become sister companies, be offered workers on excursions, be sent developmental talent or even declare war on opponents. I've established a friendly relationship with QAW, OLLIE and FCW so that we can eventually set up a trading relationship with them. Interestingly enough SNP started with a positive opinion to us (hosed if I know) while CZCW, CILL and PSW started with a negative opinion. I have no idea what their problem is, I haven't tried to sign any of their talent and I'm not in a region which has any popularity spillover. Next button down is the promotion list. Here we can see all the active promotions in the world and you can check the roster and popularity of each company. There isn't very much that is interesting here so let's move on Here's the big one. The workers tab covers every worker that is active in the world and is yet to debut. You can probably guess that there's a shitload of workers in the database so let's limit it a little bit. Here we can filter the search a bit. I want to look for unemployed rookies so I've set the employment option to unemployed and experience to a max of 3 years as a wrestler. Usually you're limited to workers that are only available in a certain region but there are some ways to get past this. As we can see Olly Graves can only work in Australia and, while I'm not interested in him due to just being another hardcore brawler, we can open up his profile where there is an option to talk to him. From here we can talk Olly into making himself available outside of Australia, changing up his style/role, if he's willing to work deathmatches or take bumps, retire, get off drugs, go up or down a size, do steroids or get in shape. Generally speaking it's mostly the young unemployed wrestlers or older unemployed wrestlers that have been out of a stable gig for some time. A midcarder in a Japanese promtion won't make themselves available to work in the US just because you asked so you have to rely on talent trades or random events to get them into the prospective talent pool. As you can see Olly has made himself available to work in the US. I'm still not signing him because he's a medicore hardcore brawler but you can often find a decent talent that was fired from another promotion who can still offer a lot. But just not Olly Wrestling Schools are where people shockingly learn how to wrestle. There are a few types of wrestling school; a dojo owned by a promotion has first refusal rights to graduates and can assign a head trainer. A wrestling school that is owned by a wrestler doesn't have such a restriction but will also close down when that wrestler either retires from the industry or dies. Finally there are performance centres which have a higher chance of generating a convert from another sport, can produce non-wrestlers like managers and announcers and the parent company can send wrestlers down to the performance centre to train and sharpen their skills. A performance centre has more benefits as opposed to a dojo but it's also far more expensive to operate. The next tab is Alliances which we have already talked about. Broadcasters are the next one down and is how you get your hypothetical TV or PPV broadcast. We don't really have any chance on getting anything broadcast so there's not much we can do here. Finally there is the Game World tab; this is how we can not only see the state of the industry and economy but also the benefits of a region. The South East has a large potential fan base and shows run there have some popularity overflow into the Mid Atlantic, Mid South, Great Lakes and Mid West regions. The Mid Atlantic and Mid South would have more popularity gain but the Mid South would probably be the best direction to expand to once we grow in size because I intend to use a fair few luchadors. As we draw closer to our first event, I have signed up our full roster. Along with those that have been introduced, I'm pleased to announce the new signings. “No Gimmick Needed” Barry Kingman is a second generation star, being the son of the legendary “Crippler” Ray Kingman. A solid all-rounder, Kingman's biggest problem has always been that he is very bland. He originally made his name working for 4C in Canada where he headlined there for four years. Having outgrown the company he then headed to Japan to work for Golden Canvas Grappling where he stayed until they went out of business. Now well into his forties, Kingman appears to be winding down his career by only working independent dates near his home in Florida. Black Diamond (Marie Sigil) is an rookie competitor from Tennessee. She usually uses a 'superior athlete' gimmick which works well because it draws from the fact that she has an exceptional background in track and field. She's been signed to play a Body Positive gimmick where she encourages people to be happy with their bodies. Chip Martin is the youngest son of east coast legend Johnny Martin who was ironically the last ever RPW champion before it was merged with the DAVE Unified championship. Debuting a few years after his dad retired from the ring, they never had the chance to team up. Wisely deciding to not try and make his name in the Tri State area Chip instead moved to California to work the independent circuit there and return once he had developed as a competitor. Much like his father he works as a technical wrestler although he uses more high spots than his dad because of his stronger athletic base. He's going to be working an Old School Face gimmick. Dane O'Hara is a solid play-by-play man from Kansas that originially started out for CZCW during the early 2000s but is more known for his 5 year run as lead announcer for FCW from 2007 to 2012. While not spectacular, he is good enough at his job and is a pleasant personality backstage. David Poker is a referee who served his apprenticeship working various small indies where he developed a reputation for being solid. This is likely what got him his role with RIPW where he was employed as their head referee from when it opened until 2011 when he decided to seek his fortune elsewhere. He hasn't worked anywhere of note since so thank god he's not a guidance counsellor. Fuego Fantastico is a young luchador that came from the Lucha Libre de Phoenix school as part of the first graduating class. A classic high flyer, he is physically very small but has a lot of spectacular moves that he can bring out thanks to his gymnastic background. He is a rudo who will be working an evil doer gimmick. James Diaz is the son of 'the Monster' Raymond Diaz, one of the most famous foreign workers in PGHW history, a fact that led him to be dubbed 'the return of the monster' by Japanese journalists who had seen footage of his early matches. The 6'6 290 pounder is very similar in style to his father, using very unforgiving and brutal attacks and simply battering his way through opponents with a combination of tenacity and power. He's going to be working a Man Beast gimmick although I don't fancy our chances of keeping him because he's probably going to be picked up by PGHW or one of the major US companies. Joy Ryder (Mary Lynn Ridowski) is a young wrestler (and occasional manager) from West Virginia. Originally a pure technician when she debuted two years ago, she has quickly blossomed into a genuine all-rounder who can work many styles. She is working a Positive Creep gimmick where she advocates the power of positivity but with an air of insincerity. Trained in part by fellow high flyer Jacob Jett, Brent “Kid Fantastic” Piper is a 214lb ball of energy, a tremendous risk taker whose natural ability and fearlessness are evident in every match that he has. He has two downsides; his basic skills are spotty at best so his matches can fall apart quickly and he is such a risk taker that he gets injured on a regular basis. He's working as a daredevil babyface and hopefully he doesn't end up breaking his arm on a dive like he did a few years ago. Mad Dog Mortimer is a journeyman brawler from Kentucky who has never really achieved anything of note in his career. He isn't a bad worker but just has an awful look and lacks charisma to hide his shortcomings. I think we might have a gimmick for him though, working under the name Leisure Suit Morty as a sleazeball heel. McDonald “Mac” Smith is an Australian who has lived and worked in America for well over a decade. A colour commentator by trade, he adds down-to-earth Australian wit and warmth to any broadcast. Mike Truk (better known as "Cockroach" Al Carter) is a rugged brawler from Mobile, Alabama. Debuting in 2017 under his real name, he was soon forging a reputation for wild brawls, an ability to withstand extreme punishment and a willingness to compete in deathmatches. He gained the nickname Cockroach from a fellow wrestler who commented on his ability to endure damage. His poor look (in short; fat and slobbish) and pronounced southern drawl will probably stop Carter from ever making it into the big leagues but he should be an attraction on the independent scene for a while before the injuries start piling up. Original Sinner (Dale Osman) is the son of PSW Hall of Famer Primal Rage. Significantly bigger than his dad, Dale was a tremendous football player that was tipped to go pro thanks to his size and speed before a bad pelvic injury ruined that dream. Just in his rookie year and mostly focusing on showing off his power, he'll be working a gimmick where he's the Disciple of Evil. I just need to find a stable or tag team for him to carry him Ozzie Goldstein is a decent Canadian wrestler and, unbeknownst to most, an accomplished jazz pianist. He first made a name for himself in MAW as one half of the Canadian Blondes alongside Flash Savage before signing to CGC. He had a solid run but he was too small to have a realistic chance of cracking the main event scene and chose not to sign with CWA when it formed and instead returned to the US. He's probably going to be one of our best talents and will be working a Big League Star gimmick since he'd actually accomplished something in his career. “The Knee Popping Machine” Paige Croft is a petite wrestler with a surprisingly impressive technical wrestling ability, being able to tie people up in knots with her vast array of holds and submission locks. Unfortunately her tiny stature and prettiness probably means that she'll never be taken seriously as the chain wrestling machine that she wants to be known as. She had a 9 year run with AAA and was signed by 5SSW after AAA collapsed, a dream for a Joshi super fan like her. She'll be an ultra serious submission machine going around intentionally trying to dislocate knees with her Memphis Deathlock. Ruby Reece is a young Canadian wrestler who trained in the AAA dojo. Debuting in 2016, she quickly became known for her energetic brawling style using many strikes from her kickboxing background. Six feet tall, she is taller than most of her opponents and uses a particularly brutal head kick as her finisher. She was one half of the final AAA tag champs alongside fellow rookie Sabrina Wells, a thrown together duo that unfortunately says a lot about how thin the roster was by the end. She's going to be working a Tomboy gimmick alongside Wells who I've also signed. 'Stunning' Sabrina Wells is a wrestler from Seattle who grew up watching her hometown promotion AAA even graduating from their dojo in 2016. Although she worked for them for less than two years, she showed herself a very promising all-rounder with quite the knack for showmanship. She's going to be working a punk princess gimmick alongside Ruby Reece. Calling herself 'the mistress of the backbreaker' and standing 6 feet tall, Talia Quinzel uses her size and strength to overwhelm opponents especially with her array of backbreaker-related moves. She spent most of her career in AAA as a tag team with Selina Svelte with multiple tag title reigns under her belt and they were generally quite successful. Following the closure of AAA, she and Svelte headed to Japan to work for 5SSW where they have fit in perfectly. I won't be using her in a tag team, instead I'm going to book her using an Amazonian gimmick. Maybe using her as a bodyguard for someone ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OOC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So why did I sign some of these guys? Talia Quinzel has always been one of my faves to sign if I utilise women's wrestlers and she's not only a very good worker but she also has really good entertainment stats as well as really high sex appeal and star quality. James Diaz inevitably gets signed up pretty quickly so I'd like to get some usage out of him while I can. Mad Dog Mortimer is someone that I've also always had a soft spot for even though he's objectively awful. Paige Croft is a great talent who I never used in the past because she'd always have a negative impact on the locker room which is funny because she suddenly became a lively person backstage. Finally most of the others are workers that I've either never used or were tied up with contracts elsewhere and I couldn't pick them up. People that have already played one of the TEW games will be wondering where the road agent is. For those that don't know, a road agent is a backstage producer whose job is to put together matches with the talent. It's generally a retired wrestler who was a good solid talent that was particularly good at in-ring storytelling. You do need a road agent but it doesn't actually require a road agent; you can put any worker in who has a very good grasp of psychology and they can get the job done. This makes road agents a newbie trap when running smaller promotions; they are generally a touch expensive and you're better off hiring a couple of older talents that have good psychology to do the gig for a much lower price. That's why I hired Barry Kingman; he only works for $40 a show which is a far cry from the couple of hundred that a road agent with similar psychology would cost. He can get the job done and then I can have another worker agent his matches.

Please make Mike Truk and Bobson Dugnutt into a tag team named the Fighting Baseballers. Then we just need to find them a manager named Sleve McDichael and we'll have the perfect stable.

Ok, I'll admit I know little about TEW, but that seems like a surprisingly large roster of performers for a startup company. I would've expected maybe a dozen or so. Thats 20+ wrestlers if I counted right. Is this normal? Or are we expecting some turnover and some to be stolen by other promotions or to wash out? I suppose not everyone will be available for every show so maybe it makes sense. Also get rid of Mike Truk, gently caress Confeds

I suppose not everyone will be available for every show so maybe it makes sense. While this is a fairly large roster in the other games, Ryland made it so that workers don't require a downside guarantee if they're lesser known workers. This is to simulate how they are only being used when they're booked and are otherwise not paid. It used to be that having a larger roster when at a small size would bleed you dry because the downside is generally about the same amount or money or slightly less which meant that you might as well book them. Contracts are also adjusted so that workers that have no popularty and just mostly toil on the independent circuit are rarely making more than double digits. Our big earners at the moment are our broadcast team and Paige Croft who earn $830 between them if all three are booked. Meanwhile the most expensive person other than them is Ozzie Goldstein who is making $80 while the next best is Johnny Aesthetic who is making $60. While I could probably do without Mac Smith no problem, I do need an announcer and Paige Croft is easily our most popular signing who is at 29 popularity all across the country. She'll probably outgrow us but if I can use that pop to get someone else other than it'll be worth it. Galaga Galaxian posted:

Heck yeah, a TEW LP. Been a fan of the series since 2013 and I'm pretty excited for some of the new additions to the new version. Unfortunately, the UI is horrid in multiple ways. Please, get a new skin from the GDS forums ASAP or those thick, white lines in every list will burn holes in our eyeballs. As far as the roster goes, excited to see how good the new names are. Diaz will be a beast as long as you can keep him (unless the new experience system dings his performance a lot), Quinzel and Croft will probably be your best names with them touring with 5 Star, Sinner is a menace machine... The guy I'm wary about is Ozzie Goldstein (wasn't he Golden in the previous version?). The few times I've used him in a small company, he has massively under-performed. Hoping he can do better for you.

The Rainbow Bar & Grill, Fort Lauderdale, FL --------------------------------------------------------------- - This is really happening isn't it I stuck my head out through the curtains as I took in the crowd. It was a crowd of only 99 but it might as well have been a sellout crowd at the Superbowl. Thomas stuck his head directly under mine and I could hear his heart beating a mile a minute. For some reason he was wearing a suit although I couldn't blame him for getting dressed up; he was going to be doing ring announcing and essentially acting as our MC and he wanted to look as good as possible. - How many people are out there? - About 100? - That seems like a lot. Is that a lot? - I've performed for less people. Hey look, Infiernia bought her Switch and Smash if you're feeling stressed. It'll help distract you - Nothing's gonna distract me. I feel like I've been shotgunning Red Bulls and everything just feels so huge right now. You know... like someone is pouring cans of it right up my- - You never got that memo on oversharing huh? - I can't help it, you're used to this. I'm not - It's not anymore different from when you used to do drama club. Or when you would help me practice my entrances by doing the ring announcing. You'll be fine. Go play the Nintendo and chill the gently caress out. OOC: Positive backstage incidents are generally a person does something backstage which brings up everyones morale. You can get this, poker games, bringing a puppy, setting up a grill or a crepe station or just being a generally positive influence. Negative incidents are generally someone is being an rear end in a top hat to someone else, showing a bit of an ego, rocking up late or dropping a nasty fart. I had some bad luck in one game where someone was farting at every loving show and it was taking my backstage rating but he'd lose his poo poo if I punished him. -------------------------------------------- One Week Earlier ------------------------------------------- It was kind of weird that we were holding staff meetings at the local cafe. Staff meetings of course meaning myself and Thomas but we needed somewhere away from his family and my dad tended to have everything blaring so loudly that I couldn't think so we needed somewhere where we could at least kinda think. We also actually bought multiple coffees just so that we wouldn't be those guys - So a couple of the people on our roster got booked on that indie show last night. - Seriously? Who got the gig? - Looks like Infiernia is wrestling a luchador called Izzy Quick who is a QAW talent. Sounds like a solid match. Kingman wrestled a guy called Buck Graham in an awful match. James Diaz wrestled a guy that I'm pretty keen on called Hammer Hadley in a good match. - Why didn't you sign him? - He looks like he'd burn a hole in any cup that he'd have to piss into, dude is muscles upon muscles. Finally we had Kid Fantastic wrestling a decent match with a talent from MAW called Bradly Blaze. Thomas gave a grunt of approval while I went back to my coffee, I was getting a sneaky feeling that the stress was starting to get to him. - So do you have our fake figurehead sorted? - Yep, I've got that all ready to go. Did you see anyone in the signings that stuck out in a weird way? - Chip Martin? - Nah, Chip is still pretty young. Plus he's how I got my hands on this I pulled an exceptionally old and dusty looking belt out of my backpack. It looked like it had been sitting in an attic or a garage for years and nobody had particularly cared. - Is that... - The original RPW Title. His dad still had it in storage so I hired Chip and may have suggested that it would be good to have that link to the original lineage. - Cool. Cool cool cool cool, you got him to steal the title. - It's not stealing - It's borrowing? - We'll just give him the title back at the end of the show. - Dude no, we'll get him to call up his dad and pay for the title. So then who is the fake boss? Al Carter? - You're really not catching onto the too young thing. He's 21, still not old enough to give us breathing room. - Plus I'm pretty sure he'd blackmail us. ZD- Yeah he's got that vibe. Look, you're going to say every name on the roster so I'll just tell you that it's Morty and make it easier. - So I get that he's old and therefore wise but how will we explain how he could afford to open up a promotion? - Robbed an armoured truck? - I got it. Maybe he doesn't trust banks and puts all his money underneath his mattress, he looks like he'd be crazy enough to do that. We had a little chuckle and high fived before I became aware of how someone was standing right next to the table. I looked up and it was an absolute unit of a man, clearly some kind of bodybuilder or fitness freak. - Hey I'm looking for a Thomas Lloyd. He told me that he hung around here, would that be either of you? - Yo! So you've accepted the job offer? - I've never heard of a promotion called that running out of Florida but I figured that I needed more gigs and came. So what's this about a fake boss? Arthur Glass the Fifth by the way. I cradled my head in my hands and groaned, we hadn't even ran a show and Thomas blew it without even consulting me. - kill me now - As you can tell, we're real young. *THUD* Nobody is going to take us seriously *THUD* so we figured that we needed someone to cover for us *THUD* - Uh... is he okay? Was this a bad time? THUDTHUDTHUDTHUDTHUD - He'll be fine, we were just supposed to keep this a secret. Isn't that right Zip? - *muffled screaming* - Yeah he's fine. So tell us about yourself - I'm 33, I'm from Maryland, I like wrestling a babyface and I'm real strong. You know, I'm just a good guy in general. - So when you say a good guy, do you mean one of those eat your prayers and say your vitamins kind of deals? - Ehhhhh not quite. I'm absolutely more one of those guys that'll run in and save people from beatdowns and show good sportsmanship. A good guy but not a wimp you know? Great, we had a bit of a roster imbalance. You're hired, we'll call when we need you. Isn't that right Zippy? -I hate you. I hate you so much ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SLAM CHAT, THE NUMBER ONE WRESTLING PODCAST IN FLORIDA posted:
------------------------------------- Ratings are always subjective based on size. A 30 rating would be barely passable for a small promotion but it's a big win for an insignificant sized promotion. Because nobody has popularity in the south east it does have an impact on match ratings so we can only go up. That Johnny Aesthetic promo though, a rating of 50 is loving huge for our size. Ozzie Goldstein absolutely hosed me by changing his style a week before the show from a Technician Flyer to a Comedy Wrestler. Now I wouldn't have a problem if I hadn't already planned things out and given him a gimmick that doesn't work in comedy matches. The bit in the main event was actually my personal feeling about indie high flyers incorporating things that worked in bigger matches with better wrestlers. The superhero faceoff between Ricochet and Wil Ospreay was cool because those two guys are insanely athletic and you can buy that it's two incredible athletes one-upping each other. But then we started getting the faceoffs on random indie between two workers that aren't as talented so it looks less like a wrestling match and more like two people doing a dance routine. The same thing happened with Dean Malenko vs Eddie Guerrero and Jerry Lynn vs RVD in ECW; amazing talents and the counter segments are pretty iconic in wrestling but then everyone on the indies started copying the segments and it was just never as good. Anyways, I went with a more barebones show. Money isn't really a concern but I don't really want to be debuting 20 new gimmicks at once. It's easier to do half here and ease the others in other the next couple of shows as we go. Thankfully we didn't have any gimmicks that bombed so I didn't have that to worry me. Our first feud is Ozzie Goldstein vs Chip Martin, Ozzie is jealous over the fact that Martin got treated so well while he got nothing despite being a bigger star. It didn't really help that Martin starts the game on the sidelines with a bruised kidney for the first month and can only be used in angles for that period. I also hadn't realised just how much of an impact the experience stat has on a worker, a few of the matches didn't necessarily fall apart but most of the matches had a penalty on a participants rating due to inexperience; it's a new system though so that's a lesson learnt. Wowza, what a read. Worth the wait. What frequency of shows are we holding? Monthly shows? Would make the kidney injury a little be more easy to handle And ozzie switching to a comedy worker is pure gold. Love how you angled him as an unintentional comedy gimmick. Maybe the reviewers gave him the idea to work on that more. Of course, this requires a match against Johnny Aesthetic.

With the full game dropping in a couple of days, I'd decided that I'd like to highlight some workers between chapters who are my favorites or that I've had fun booking over the very many years that I've been playing the series. I figure that if you're interested in the game but don't have the amount of experience that I have then going into a fictional database full of random dudes is, while not quite overwhelming, tough to get a hang of what you want to do. Fro Sure is a guy that I'm shocked still hasn't been signed by one of the major companies; he is one of the best potential main eventers to pick up and has so much star quality and charisma that he can instantly come in and be the companies figurehead. I'd sign him all the time and just go full tilt with making him a top star because of how talented he is. Seriously guys, sign him if you're an indie promotion. Ross Henry is sadly no longer possible to hire because he retired but he would essentially guarantee you some really highly rated shows just based on his sky-high popularity and star quality. So of course he retired between 2016 and 2020 because he got to achieve his dream of working a few tag matches for TCW and that was enough for him. I like to think that was Adam joking about how people would use him just to prop up a few shows and then get rid of him because of how much he cost. El Mitico Jr was another guy that was a go-to hire for me; a tremendous worker, great star quality and a very good talker. He was one of the best guys that you could hire as a workrate-based indie and it's only natural that he's now locked into a contract with EMLL because he was just that good. Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler are just one of those awesome tag teams that you could hire on the cheap and were reliable but without getting too big for your show before you were ready. You could rely on them to carry a match and they wouldn't lose their poo poo if you asked them to lose. They're currently signed to PGHW but they're on a handshake agreement so nothing's stopping you from signing them as an American promotion. Mobstar and Frantic Ali aren't a tag team but they're so similar that I might as well list them at the same time; both of them are great brawlers, are charismatic and have plenty of star quality. I'd always have both of them and Fro Sure on my roster when playing as IPW and they'd always be top of the card. Frantic Ali has a tendency to be signed away by TCW but that generally takes a few years and he always starts off in a prominent position so you can always get a ton of use out of him. Finally I want to highlight Electric Dreamer; she is always someone that I hire to be the face of my women's division. She almost always gets a bonus to her match ratings because she has a fanbase of young girls that love seeing her win, she is a good high flyer and she moves merchandise by the truckload. The best thing about picking her up is that the USPW never picks her up and they're the only promotion with a women's division that can offer written contracts so you're never put in a position where you get the rug pulled out underneath you when you give her a push. I'm pretty torn on whether or not I'll pick TEW2020 up. The idea of jumping in head first is kind of intimidating, but its not like there is any guides or anything out there. It doesn't help I'm the kind of aesthetically-driven idiot that would immediately want to start their own promotion from the ground up just like this LP instead of just using a well established company to learn the ropes. Also the fact I'd want to import a few of my favorite self-made Edits from my Fire Pro Wrestling World save. Though one of your updates makes it sound like, as long as you don't want to control their stats in every minute detail, that its a lot easier to create characters on the fly than previous versions. Maybe I'll just let the LP show me things for now. For a little while at least. That Fro'Sure guy seems fun though. A winning smile and a puntastic name, whats not to love? Well the thing about modded databases is I'm probably the one person in the world who doesn't give a drat about a Real World database. I haven't paid much attention to wrestling since the WWF's attitude era. So a real world mod holds about as much familiarity and interest as the cornellverse. And being "realistic" is actually a mild turn off for dumb brainworm reasons.

Since I'm going to be working all next week, I figured it's best to get our next show out early. It's RPW WRESTLE BOWL BAYBAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SLAM CHAT, THE NUMBER ONE WRESTLING PODCAST IN FLORIDA posted:
That's that in the bank. Not much happened that month but it was a pretty solid show in the end. Skyhawk was our first news story on the front page; wrestlers have a chance to develop a new move that showcases an attribute, hope spot or catch phrase which gives them a performance boost that sticks around from three months to 2 years. So that's good, he's also developed simmering tension with Kid Fantastic because he almost got injured by a botched spot so that's bad. I'm not too concerned about that because he doesn't have a personality type that would turn people against the person that he dislikes. If Skyhawk had an intense personality then I'd just cut my losses and get rid of Kid Fantastic because eventually everyone would be turned against him. We had a couple of workers on independent shows; Black Diamond had a match in Milwaukee with a kinda awful wrestler named Joanna Silver (the pirate of men's pants), Joy Ryder took on Millie the Minx from QAW in Baltimore while James Diaz was in a six man tag with a bunch of FCW talent. Other than that, nothing of note happened.

Okay we're back, had to get 8 stitches in my head but other than that it was a good week. Just in the process of writing the show now but here's the card rundown for RPW Beer Bash vs Ozzie Goldstein has been talking a lot of poo poo lately and the target of his ire Chip Martin has had enough. Will the blue chip prospect overcome the arrogant Canadian or will Ozzie show that everything in RPW will be Golden? Arthur Glass has vowed to be in Chip's corner but what will Ozzie have up his sleeve? vs Infiernia & Skyhawk have clashed at the last two shows with the Bedeviled Angel defeating him in a tag match and Skyhawk eating the pinfall in the multi-man match. RPW's resident superhero is looking for his first victory but will he be able to overcome Infiernia? vs "The Knee-Popping Machine" Paige Croft made a hell of a debut last month as she injured Barry Kingman with the Memphis Deathlock. Will Mascara fair better? vs The Fighting Batmen showed why they should be feared when they defeated Arthur Glass & Chip Martin albeit with some assistance from Ozzie Goldstein. This month they will be taking on the team of Ruby Reece and Sabrina Wells aka Team Headkick. Will the two brutes overpower the former AAA tag team champions or will the striking power of Team Headkick be enough to bring them down? vs James Diaz flattened a local competitor last week and his manager Thomas Lloyd stated that the same thing will happen to Zippy Deverell next time. Is there any hope for the Z-Man?

Dang, 8 stitches. You have a bad run in with team headkick? For real though hope you’re feeling better. Also while the fighting batmen is a fine name for the team, just wanted to point out that the reason I suggested the fighting baseballers is because both bobson dugnutt and Mike Truk were names from an SNES game called fighting baseball. Some Japanese guy had come up with an entire league’s worth of American players, and ended up with gems like Sleve McDichael and Dwigt Rortugal.

Hell's Angel is gonna fight Skyhawk's fire with a fiercer fire of her own. The Flying Luchador better prepare for a Hell of a match, or he'll be dragged down to Damnation and pinned for the three count.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------SLAM CHAT, THE NUMBER ONE WRESTLING PODCAST IN FLORIDA posted:
So allow me to explain to you how chemistry works. Unless otherwise stated then you have neutral chemistry with an opponent so there's no bonus or penalty to match rating. Positive chemistry elevates a match so that it ends up rated higher than it would normally while negative chemistry can take off a significant number from the match rating. It's not just opponents that can have chemistry but also tag teams and even announcer lineups; nothing hurts more than having to kill a main event feud because the two opponents have awful chemistry or pairing people up with a ton of hype and it falling flat because they cannot work together. Running House Shows is a good way to find out if workers have chemistry or not and smaller companies can make do with dark matches to test it out. The best way to look at it is that you can have a great match with neutral chemistry just based on talent but you'll never have a good match with negative chemistry. ONE WEEK LATER Do you think we should come clean? I looked up from the plate of scrambled eggs that I was having for my breakfast, I must admit that we had been tiptoeing around the subject of ownership and Mort, bless his heart, wasn't exactly a great actor. Honestly? Probably. How long do you reckon we'd be able to keep it up? Not for much longer. RING Hang on, I've got a call. He peered at his phone and showed me who it was. It was Jose Silva and we agreed to put it on speaker Jose! Brother, how you doing? Doing alright. I actually moved to Florida yesterday like we were talking about last week. ACPW aren't hiring at the moment and zero chance CWA takes a punt on me so I figured I'd move down here. How'd you get a working visa? There was a brief silence as Thomas and I looked at each other. I did not. So you're an illegal? Kinda, just say nothing about it. I figured I could crash with either you or Zippy since you're the bosses. We both started coughing at this, how the hell did he figure it out? Did Rooster snitch? Who else could know? What do you mean? Who are the bosses? Certainly not us aha ha ha ha You're not? I figured that since Thomas's signature is on the checks then it's probably him that's in charge. Ah And you're clearly close with him, you're either friends and he hired you as a favour or you're in charge also. poo poo. Okay you caught us, don't tell anyone. Well Zippy, I guess the will we or won't we question has kinda been rendered null and void. --------------------------- Sorry about the delay, I just kinda hit a wall writing the tag match and was trying to think of how to do it. As per usual, spots on the roster are still available and if you want to have a match on the next show or have a feud then just let me know.

Great update. It's cool that two of the CAW have good chemistry and they work similar styles. Curious if Mike Truk and Bobson Dugnett are being angled to split and do some deathmatch stuff. Would be cool for a bigger show. Also oof that crowd attendance. How does the attendance work? Does consistently putting up good matches raise the popularity and that boosts our attendance? Or is it advertisement?

Attendance works based on a mix of popularity and the state of the industry & economy. We have no popularity and the industry is kind of in the shitter at the moment. Championship Wrestling from Wigan is doing even worse, their best attended show was slightly less attended then our worst. With Truk vs Dugnutt, I was kinda regretting hiring Truk after this show. He's just not that great and there's no lack of cheap brawlers in the US so I honestly should have splashed literally 10 more bucks to get someone a bit better.
