How do you feel about visual novels with some light dialogue choices? Eliza is probably the most well-written and performed game I've played in the past year, should run on any system and is only about 3-4 hours long.

The game suggests you wear headphones. I second that recommendation unless you only have lovely iPhone earbuds or something, it really makes a difference.

if you have mental illness you might want to read a bit about senua before actually putting those headphones on. for me, it was too much.

^^I'm waiting for a gpu upgrade before I touch Hellblade. From the little I know from reviews, my brain worms are of a very different type from those in Hellblade, but thank you anyways. Thanks for the recommendations! Droyer posted:Disco Elysium was recently patched to be easier to run, and it's definitely well-written. I actually forgot I already bought Disco Elysium last year. Played for 20 minutes, thought it was great and decided to save it for the right time. I don't even know why, it's not like a bottle of wine that gets better. I guess the time is now.

I mean, every game made now gets improvement patches, added Content and Enhanced Editions so the bottle of wine analogy probably works

Hellblade is a game that is best played on a decent PC, and with headphones on. I put it down eventually since I honestly didn't like the gameplay all that much, but in terms of aesthetics and what it's going for, it's very much a worthwhile experience.

Did they ever patch in the ability to turn off the head bobbing in Hellblade? I was really impressed with the 30 minutes or so I played of it but the eyesplitting headaches were too much to finish the story.

My sister is looking for an online casino/card game on PC. She's looking for today's Yahoo Games, basically, to play poker (and ideally more; dominoes, etc.) against randoms with Monopoly money. If this type of game is dead on PC in favor or mobile games, then that'd be fine, too. Any decent, populated games out there? Either a game I can buy for her outright, or a F2P game that isn't terribly exploitative garbage ("You are out of credits! Click this MEGA DEAL to get X credits for only Y dollars!") Thanks!

I know they've got a great VR version, but the actual client should do monopolybucks.

PNatI and PNatI 2 are very, very good for a completely brainless poker game when you are, say, extremely high on drugs after significant surgery and only have one functioning arm to play with. The characters and interactions are generally pretty fun, there's a good bit of silly banter between the characters and the voice acting is solid. Shame about the whole "telltale was a horrific company" thing though.

I'm really in the mood to play a fantasy shop simulator. I've played Recettear and Weapon Shop de Omasse and really loved them Doesn't need to be totally like them per se but that sort of vibe is what I'm craving!

Thoroughly enjoying that Ys recommendation from the thread earlier (got Memories on sale) Looking for something a bit more strategic as a counterpoint. I burned through Chimera Squad and it awakened a strategy itch. I tried getting into Disgaea to no avail. Really loved FFT and Tactics Ogre in the past. Really anything where you get to pick abilities and grow your units into demi-gods. Alternatively, maybe something about space colonization? Civ or Cities-like?

I sunk a ton of time into Low Magic Age’s arena which is a modded 3.5 d&d where casters aren’t total gods. Battletech is also obvious choice. SFD is a party based roguelike and is quite good even if it looks a little rough. Xenonauts is old xcom remastered if you are over the cover shooter: TBS edition.

Alternatively: Battle Brothers, it's a game around building a company of mercenaries with very good tactical combat and very solid progression.

Voidspire is more exploration-based with secrets hidden all over, Alvora is mostly procedurally generated and thus has far fewer secrets but lets you fight as much as you want, Horizon's Gate is naval themed and you sail around a lot which means less frequent combat (unless you fully embrace piracy).

House Flipper is fantastic and I'm addicted to doing these little missions where I paint a random room and decorate it and stuff. Are there any other games out there like it? Aside from the Car Mechanic sim, that has too much "assembly" minigame where you unscrew the screws and no thanks. I want like. Cleaning and painting and breaking down walls, but it doesn't have to be that. Help?
