The helices have the wrong chirality. If you looked down at the strand in the monument, it curves left. The mirror form of that is predominant in life on Earth. You’re welcome.

I got my ex a replica of that statue for her birthday last year. She killed a lot of mice in a bio lab so it was exactly her kinda thing. Like, lifetime total of mice killed was easily north of 150k. 1-2 thousand a week. You’d be amazed how many mice die for biology research.

A friend of mine told me about that doing her post-grad Get mice out of cage Put in gas bath to sedate Press pencil across top of neck, pull tail Put in Polytron to reduce to soup-like homogenate Repeat ad infinitum, asking yourself what the gently caress you're doing with your life

Because that sounds like a deeply horrifying existence. Like, if you're going through thousands a week I can see it would make sense to have someone just do that but christ I do not envy that person.

My SO killed lots of mice and cut out their hearts. She worked with someone whose job it was to stress out the mice (because they were studying the physiological effects of stress). In reality that meant inflicting pain on the poor mice. The mice got their revenge though, because now she's allergic to mice.

I managed to avoid this because when I was killing mice and homogenizing their organs, I was wearing a biocontainment suit. Checkmate, mice!

I guess that also begs the question of how much real estate and pellets does it take to produce enough mice fast enough that you can maintain a full time industrial mouse killer position? I'm imagining a minecraft mob grinder with mice.
