For people unaware, the original drama that led to Amber being called ableist was when she held a DSA workshop in a second floor room with no handicap access, and when somebody asked her if they could move the workshop she said no. Now, the fact that the DSA had used that room many times before and nobody had complained, whatever, let's leave that aside, doesn't matter. The real fun part is that the workshop was to teach people how to do canvassing. Y'know, door-to-door canvassing. Specifically, it was in preparation for planned DSA canvassing in a neighborhood of New York City that was full of old apartment buildings with no elevators. So if you wanted to canvas above the first floor, you'd have to use the stairs. Which is why Amber didn't think it was reasonable to reschedule the workshop in order to have it in a room that was accessible to people who can't climb stairs. miniscule12 has managed to warp that in his brain to "Amber kicked all the disabled people out of the DSA"

I remember that right after 2016 a few people mentioned the Green Party as a potential alternative, and that was quickly shot down by DSA people saying that the Green Party was just full of rich liberal dilettantes. Which was in retrospect pretty clearly just code for "people like my mom"

I had a conversation with someone about it in discord a couple months back and the conflict was more framed as court drama back stabbing. I'm sure the stories about amber are all highly exaggerated. The reason also why she's "more liable to canceling" is because unlike most of the chapos, she's got one hell of a long career as a serious writer and as this serious figure on organizing. So of course people are gonna be more strict with her than Felix or Matt. If Matt or Felix wrote as much as her, on the same vein that isn't just an explainer or whatever, they'd probably get way more poo poo than her!
