like i mean, how the hell is any court going to interpret that? it's the most blatant Catch-22 provision you can come up with!

Why? A law is a law, it doesn't matter what the legislator or executive who made the law intended (except when it's convenient for conservatives to claim bullshit "founders intent") just because the effect of his executive order is that all his tweets get hidden or explained doesn't mean that isn't what he did.

In other, somewhat happy news, an active shooter was stopped before he could kill anyone by a guy who drove his truck into him.

Only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a truck?

I mean, I've seen original intent of the legislators be cited in multiple judicial opinions, so this seems like a weird take.

yeah, the legislative history of a law is pretty commonly used as part of a court’s determination of its meaning

'Let my building burn': Owner of damaged Minneapolis restaurant supports protest

quote:

Over the past few days, the Islam family had converted their Minneapolis restaurant Gandhi Mahal into a refuge for protesters seeking shelter from the police's mace, tear gas and rubber bullets.

Early Thursday morning, they learned their eatery had burned down as protesters took to the streets over the arrest and killing of George Floyd.

"We won’t loose hope though, I am so grateful for our neighbors who did their best to stand guard and protect Gandhi Mahal, Youre efforts won’t go unrecognized," wrote Hafsa Islam, the 18-year-old daughter of owner Ruhel Islam, in a now-viral Facebook post. "Dont worry about us, we will rebuild and we will recover."

"Let my building burn, justice needs to be served,” Ruhel said, according to the post. Those words seemed to resonate with fans and followers, causing the post to be shared more than 20,000 times.

The post continued: "Gandhi Mahal May have felt the flames last night, but our firey drive to help protect and stand with our community will never die! Peace be with everyone."

Edit: The fact that they're using Google Maps navigation for police reporting and warning is incredible. Navigating the goddamn horse is even better.

Donated some stuff this afternoon and I was amazed by the response from the community. The call went out for diapers, baby wipes, food, household cleaners and toiletries for people who'd had their local stores burned and weren't able to travel to shop because the buses and light rail have been shut down. There were literally hundreds of people there, dropping off all sorts of things. I dropped off my stuff and then joined a group that was sweeping up the street.

Earlier today I was crying because I felt helpless and furious. There is nothing like community action to help you see all of the good people who are out there and to give you something useful to do.

I got a shout out from some comrades on FB but if you're in Minneapolis they're taking donations from 9am-6pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 2730 E 31st St, Minneapolis

As for clean up, you can just go out there with a broom and find all sorts of people who are sweeping and cleaning up debris. Bring work gloves and a mask/eye protection. Bring extra if you can because there are a lot of young people out there helping who don't think to bring protective gear.
