Yeah I recommend waiting on the dummies. It's great when you have more units to get up to snuff but it's way too powerful at the beginning. The Black city is definitely the best place to buy weapons I have found in the game (very expensive though). I found two Meitou grade weapons by taking down a some skeleton bandit faction in the zone with the big murderbeams from the sky.

Ehrgeiz on the PSX whipped. I played the arcade version a few times but the PlayStation version had the RPG mode and that was a lot of fun for me. Plus you could unlock like half the cast of FFVII to be fighters and it had a cool grapple/counter system not too unlike Dead or Alive.

I really hope they are tweaking the game balance in that Kingdoms of Amalur remaster. If you engaged with any crafting, enchanting or even side quests, you became so powerful that it trivialized the game beyond hope. Fun fact: This was one of the first games that featured seamless transitioning between controllers and mouse & keyboard, even changing the UI to fit to whatever you where using at the moment

I think they're developing Kenshi 2 as of a few months ago? Kenshi is pretty good, but it's definitely a make your own fun kind of game.
