Fin shadows show up fairly regularly on their own, so it seems to work better to despawn other fish spawns (usually by running near them) and search the coast for fins.

There are people with 500-700 hours in the game and it's been out since late March. People stuck at home don't need to time travel to get elaborate setups. They just need turnips, friends, and a lot of free time. I've changed up my island maybe 4 times, relocated at least 14 houses and shops twice, destroyed countless bridges, etc. The real strategy to getting what you want is leaning on the community. Go to cataloging parties, visit friend islands to grab DIYs and buy items, trade with folks. Plan out what you want and do it a step at a time. Have friends water your flowers. Assuming most elaborate islands are due to time traveling shenanigans is, at this point, silly.

Capitalist hellhole town updates! So my pool area is more or less complete. You can see the stage in the background.  Here's a shot of it at night. I really wish it got a bit darker so the lights could have a bit more impact.  I made a stargazing area for when goons come over to view meteor showers (those are money trees btw).  I was going to make a red light district but a combination of space limits and difficulty making any outside space look like it's inside made me scrap the idea. I've since moved my more degenerate ideas into my house, which is now a shady love hotel. It's all still a bit of a work in progress but here's the lobby.  Here's the actual room you can purchase for the night.  And from another angle  Finally I made this porno studio that I will eventually transfer to the basement (when I actually have one). It still needs a couple spotlights and better snacks for the services table. Because my actors work hard and they deserve the best, damnit!  (No, I don't know what's wrong with me either.)
