Yeah I'm with you there - I'll be honest, I never watched the first couple seasons, but my wife was bought in from the start. She says the show started finding its stride late season 1 and was pretty consistently good from s2 on. In my experience, I couldn't stand most of the early episodes I watched, but after watching a couple episodes with her around s4 I found myself enjoying it a lot more even without context, and I watched most of s5/6 as they came out. Basically, especially now that it's all out and you can just hatewatch through the lower quality episodes (see also: the office), it's absolutely worth.

It might pick up- and now’s the time to find out if someone can give me an episode to force my way to where it gets good- but what little I saw played out like a famous father using celebrity to help his beloved but mediocre son get a show made.
