It's pretty ironic that I've been doing delivery work lately, and when I get home all I wanna do is missions for aliens lol They've really made the game so breezy and fun now. The personal refinery, the little quest type interactions like using various items at facilities, the universe actually feels a bit alive I mean, you can still see the seams of the procedural generation, but in a lot of little ways they've smoothed it out. Game good

I really wish the personal refinery just took loving fuel from your backpack or something. Any time I think about using it to process something it's more work to keep it topped up than just warp home and bang my stack of poo poo in the oven.

I think they changed it recently because I put a stack of carbon in it 10 hours ago and it's still got 75% power

I think it depends on how many units you're refining. When I put the various goops to get nanites it's practically torture and I have a series of refineries at home to just throw it into. But doing something like cobalt or sodium? Throw a whole stack in there no problem.

I'm glad they're doing this level of update, even though it's largely meaningless to me since I don't really do any multiplayer and don't use VR. Still cool and good.

What are some of the things you can fluff w/oxygen? Found a deposit and it's barfing up like 3k every couple hours so I might as well make use.

Is it just me or does it kinda feel like there was a stealth nerf to jetpack stacking in this last update? It just feels like it's taking way longer to regenerate, both on the space station where it was super fast and on planet (I probably travelled 4000u by foot/air in the last 45m). This is a save I had started just a few weeks ago, got up to 3x3 on S Movement modules as is tradition and suddenly I feel slower than before.

Just bought the game and played for about 12 hours. Mostly rushed through the tutorial to play with friends and flying aimlessly. I was super excited about getting a free freighter until I found out the first one's always free (and there are better ones). So should I give my current stuff to a friend and start from scratch to reroll for a better freighter or is it pointless?
|
# ? Jun 15, 2020 16:56 |
|
Rerolling your freighter can take a huge amount of time if you want to hold out for a perfect one. If you go through the game as intended it's not too long until outright buying one becomes feasible. Plus so much stuff has been added by now that you might find yourself largely ignoring the freighter minigame anyway.
|
# ? Jun 15, 2020 17:01 |
|
After getting your free freighter, you can always buy another one. After each encounter with a freighter under attack (including your first one) there is a cooldown of about some # hours of in-game play time and a certain number of warps. When that expires, your next warp will result in an encounter with a frigate under attack.blarzgh posted:I've heard this as well. blarzgh fucked around with this message at 17:23 on Jun 15, 2020 |

Set your turning to smooth turning etc, in the vr controls ( inside the games menus after launching in vr ) and use mouse and keyboard by just pressing them after you launch the game in vr. Works with WMR on my kit, should definitively work with stuff like index, HTC, oculus, or any other steam vr compat headset. Not sure about teleporting. It literally activates upon using your mouse and keyboard in the game while using vr. Especially if you have your vr configured for a seated setup ( which if youre gonna use mouse and keyboard make sure you do ).

Still doesn't allow you to controllers such as Xbox One Controller, even when configured in Steam, in VR mode. Keyboard and mouse or lovely hand controls. You cant even use the joysticks on the Oculus Touch Controllers. Edit - Yep just tried again while having the Touch Controllers removed. Xbox One Controller still doesn't work at all, VR controller bindings are completely different to non-VR controller bindings in Steam. loving shitshow. This game really has the potential to be scary when it wants to, even possibly by accident. Case in point, I was exploring an uncharted system and making a descent into an exotic monochromatic hellworld and just as I breached the atmosphere I got a "Hostile Scan Detected" notification despite no pirate timer (and the system being uncharted,) and after I got the notification nothing happened. No pirate ships or wanted ships or anything. I don't know if this was intentional or a bug but it was very unsettling in a cool way.

It's intentional, approaching a planet ends the pirating process so if you're close enough and don't want to spend time or money on them you can just make them go away. This will not work with sentinels, though.

It kind of does though, since if you land they send ground based sentinels after you which you can fairly easily escape from.

What was weird was that I never saw any "pirate scan incoming" meter on my dashboard, and in my experience once it actually says "Hostile Scan Detected" you're locked in to a pirate encounter (at that point they will follow you to the planet surface and you can have a cool atmospheric fight with them) But I didn't have any forewarning of it and when I got it I stopped and turned around, but nothing either before or after. It was really neat and made the already creepy planet even more ominous, like even though it's an uninhabited system there was still something watching me from the dark.

here's a fun one, I get into the nexus and I'm zoomin around with my fresh new rainbow jetpack trails and someone gifts me 9999 quicksilver. BUT it's in my inventory and not my wallet. so I've got a slot with 9999 of some item called quicksilver, with the little currency symbol and everything too. do I toss it, refine it, sell it? it must be some sort of bug or scrap of code right? and if so, why did that dick dump it on me

Recently I've noticed for the first time in many years that the galaxy map's route planner is borked. I've always wondered why I could never actually jump to full jump range and a couple days ago I accidentally fumbled my way into targeting stars directly, without getting punted around by the route planner options. Turns out that yes, I can use my 1900 ly jump range, but only if I never touch a route planner. Well poo poo, all those unnecessary jumps I've made over the years, all that wasted time...
|
# ? Jun 20, 2020 16:02 |

Yeah I think the route planner operates on the assumption that you want to explore every star system on the way and also that you don't have any range upgrades.
|
# ? Jun 20, 2020 18:25 |
|
It also seems to be a LOT faster than the route planner in Elite Dangerous, which is solving more or less the same problem but does take your ship's abilities into account.

It connects to every system on it's path, but you can just follow the line to the full extent of your drives capabilities. Or is this a different issue?
