I missed a Hawk question my sensors must be off.

I've been rubbernecking the Goldwing market over lockdown because it is absolutely bonkers. If you like to buy by the ton the GW market is your oyster. Finding some real gems in there:

It’s pretty nuts how cheap old goldwings go for (minus that one you posted) and how much bike you get (both in raw tonnage and features/reliability/rideability/etc)

It’s very much a “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” thing and I can see why some people can’t get over the 1980’s parade float aesthetic, but if you can, there is a whole lot of bike to be had for not much money

If you're paying more than $1500-$2000 for a good, running, maintained 70's or 80's model it had better be a museum piece. There are more nice Wings right now than Sportsters.

1980's models are all over the MKE area facebook marketplace for $500-$800 in good condition, some down into the low 20K's for mileage

It's okay. Maybe my gorson signal bulb was faulty. I'll probably never find that fairing anyway, and will have to focus on a nice aerodynamic helmet by winter instead.

I hate goldwings but I'd absolutely ride that one, just not for that price. The wolves are a great design touch.

The more I look at it the better it gets, the wolves, the Dave&Patty insignia done in the Aspencade font, the underglow lighting , the "Great Father Above, Hear Me"

Its all fantastic

The "Great Father Above, Hear Me" is a white person's stereotypical ideal of a Native American woman, on a tiny island in the middle of a lake praying to a white god, on a Japanese motorcycle, which has an American flag covering the seat of the sidecar. Politically and philosophically it's a mixed bag.

I really like the idea of a stripped down, modern Gold Wing. Is this as loving cool as it seems? Kinda wanna trade my FJ-09 for one, it's been problematic and I don't hoon on it anyways.

6800 miles? That’s barely even broken in, especially for a 6 cylinder Goldwing motor carrying less weight than normal.

I would argue if you’re looking for a naked-ish muscle tourer it’s probably a good bet.

Also, most people wouldn’t suspect it but the 6 cylinder Goldwings sound fabulous with an exhaust. Skip to 1:00 for the good stuff

https://youtu.be/yaL605FYcvw

They sound even better not revving in a garage. A friends dad had one (because dadbike) with an exhaust on it and it sounded like a mini Ferrari

At the 1:28 mark when the camera moves forward the engine note sounds like Night On Bald Mountain which goes with the Valkyrie vibes so I say buy it

Okay, I've been down to the bottom of the internet multiple times, and the closest thing I can dredge up is the rifle fairings. Nice, and close, but I really like the shape of that other one.

Would be really nice to have for winter and highway use. Gonna have to start dredging hawk forums and enthusiast groups.

EDIT: Thanks to a hawk facebook group member IDing the logo as "Tracy Designs" I found the model fairing!! It's a Tracy Designs Streetfighter fairing. Practically unobtainium, but at least I know what I'm looking for.

You may also be thinking of the Targa fairing which is similar and also NLA. Here's a slightly beat up one on ebay. They're fiberglass which is easy to repair:

Uhm I think you'll find in the book "the art of the Craigslist" that you can't get lowballed if you lowball yourself first.

They meant $1400 cash up front if you finance the other $30,000

Most of the "listing on behalf of dealership" on Facebook are scams. It's basically "hacked" accounts, where grandma set her password as "nana1" and scam bots cracked that walnut in 9 seconds flat. Those accounts would be listing the same exact thing under a business name. If the account gets reclaimed, the scammers have thousands more waiting in the wings. Facebook does nothing about any of it, don't bother reporting.

I was going to say absolutely a scam, but I honestly don't know anymore. Also it looks like Craigslist has started charging $5 bux for motorcycle listings, so the outright scams seem to have dipped a lot. Apparently Facebook is the place for those now.

I should learn to read - I thought you were still talking about Craigslist. My local listings are inundated with posts from a dealer that's a 6 hour drive away, so your complaint stands for both sites.

How are the R3s? Never had any Yamahas. Ahhhh the last thing I need is a second bike, I don't know why I keep looking at them. Somebody else should buy it. It's just painful seeing a new, (probably) really fun bike sitting unused like that.

Another one of those sub-300 mile cases, probably been sitting a while so would need some basic maintenance, so maybe that's not a great asking price anyway.
