Lol I’m not going to relitigate that with you again if you’re still acting like I ever said anything like that. But it’s a good example: if your safe space prioritizes your comfort (not your safety, but merely your comfort) and doesn’t allow for any critical discussion, that’s not where I want to be. It’s Fuego’s choice if their offsite works like that, but that’s not a space worthy of me restricting myself to fit in.

Okay so like. If your use of the term tranny and trap is triggering to me. Which it is. Because things yelled at you when you experienced a queer bashing tend to make you remember being queer bashed, is that a comfort or a safety thing? Because it sure as gently caress makes me uncomfortable, sure. But it also causes me to reengage with being assaulted for my queerness and that has, historically, led to me reengaging with ideation of self harm. So is that sufficient to be considered a matter of safety? And if so, do I need to line this out another loving time anyone want to “critically engage” with loving slurs? Because god knows I love doing this, it makes the experience mush more pleasant. Please. I am begging you. At what point does this become more important than your space for self expression.

It literally never, ever, ever does. We have to give ourselves spaces as communities to have hard conversations and use words that hurt us, no matter how hard that might be. Ultimately the only person we can be responsible to for our comfort is ourselves. I’ve had tranny and fag shouted at me too, and I have triggers that also lead me into cycles of self-harm. But strength isn’t something we can demand from other people, and we can’t demand they keep us completely comfortable at their own expense. Your reaction is ultimately your responsibility, and you are responsible for keeping yourself safe.

I mean I still consider Arivia softbanned for doing a whole bunch of heinous poo poo to me for no real reason, including (but not limited to) accusing me of writing child pornography, accusing me of being an imperialist, erasing my queer identity despite repeatedly asking her not to, saying ableist poo poo about me. The absolute last time and place to relitigate this and make poo poo about you is here and now. Arivia you make people uncomfortable and hurt them, a lot, across many and varied kinds of spaces, and when called on it you go absolutely aggro up to and including screaming slurs at people in a way that is most definitely not you merely having an academic discussion about oppression or whatever bugfuck justification you have conjured up for calling people slurs during arguments. You do genuinely valuable activist work in real life but you also behave like an abuser yourself in your personal life and social circles quite frankly and doing one does not cancel out the other. I say this as someone that considered you a friend long and away after you had made yourself persona non grata in most of the offsite TG spaces. You need to figure out when to walk away and more than that, you need to figure out how to treat other people, including the ones that make you slightly uncomfortable or ask you to rein in your behavior, with basic respect and quit attempting to post-hoc justify away how you make other people feel.
