tangy yet delightful posted:Anyone know if new Eldar sculpts could happen like say within a year? Or aeldari or whatever. Who can say for eldar but I hope 40k gets more releases. And it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect some! There's been a whole new line of Sisters, a bunch of primaris, and of course we've got new necrons coming out. New models have mainly been a AoS/Specialist Games/Space Marine thing, but hopefully a bunch of 40k factions get new models soon! Those new sisters are absolutely gorgeous.

I would have said no chance, but then we did get plastic Howling Banshees and Jain Zar, so who knows really. The real problem for an Eldar update is that there is a LOT of stuff to bring forward - you have all the remaining Phoenix Lords, all the Aspects besides Dire Avengers and Howling Banshees, and because of the nature of the Aspects they are not very modular. So we might see some additions and revisions but probably not a complete overhaul of the line. IIRC the last big Eldar push was giving them plastic sets for Wraithguard, Wraithlords, and the Wraithknight. I think that the only Aspect that hasn't had any sort of revision since their release is Warp Spiders (well, Shing Spears, but those were much later release). I think every other one has had at least one round of updated models, albeit in resin or metal, but Spiders are still the same ones from the 1990s. Once again, it's a credit to the originals that they hold up so well, the largest issue is usually how 'flat' they are in stance due to the casting requirements of the time. But it kind of kills me that War of the Spider didn't include any plastic Warp Spiders.

There was an odd story in the one The Greater Good where Warp Spiders recovered an ancient set of armor from the Guard. Maybe that is hinting of something in the pipe. I would love to see new Warp Spiders and possibly a new Phoenix Lord. That said, Fuegan is definitely the next Phoenix Lord most in need of a repose. The axe pointing forward 90 degrees on what is a pretty flat model just looks odd to me.

Thanks for the thoughts on Eldar sculpts, I've def got an Eldar lean in my mind for getting into 9th ed so I'm starting to think about models and trying to avoid buying something that will get redone soon.

I love these little windows into the 40k world. Such wonderfully concise little pieces of fluff that build the narrative. so, relatively speaking, the only good ppl in 40k are Salamanders and Communist Tau (and of course orkz)?

Ok I sent Discord links to everyone who made it easy for me to do. If you didn't get one it's because: 1) You asked for one and didn't give me an easy way to contact you 2) Your posting sucks and you're not getting one I'm pretty much done sending them out at this point because my desire to check the forums any more than I have to is nil and like 50+ people have joined in the last 24 hours.

If Eldar get a new pass I have to hope they'd focus on the older kits and not re-do newer stuff, so you'd probably be safe with the following: - Dire Avengers - Howling Banshees - Wraithguard - Wraithlord - War Walkers - Jetbikes - Wraithknights - Fliers - Any tanks (Falcons, Fire Prisms, Wave Serpents) - Vypers - Harlequin stuff You can probably add Guardians to that list, but the guardian box is also one of the oldest GW plastic sets still in production (from 1999 irc?) so there's maybe like a tiny chance they'd redo it? On the other hand they haven't touched the Catachans and Cadians which are slightly older and a similar vintage, and there are a lot of other things to work on in the range before messing with the Guardians. Whether you can make a good list out of that, I don't know, you'd be very light on Aspects but you could do something Ulthwe or Iyanden themed pretty well?

I’d really like to see an Eldar revamp. I want to have a cool xenos army and I’m too scairt to paint orks. Rather I don’t have the time to paint and make movement trays for a horde army...not when I’m already doing sisters.

If anyone knows any good hobby discords in general (non-goon is fine) it'd be great to post 'em. SA has been less and less of a feature in my day to day and the spontaneous conversations in discords are fun, way more motivating for getting hobby stuff done.

poo poo, I think I got skipped over since I have PMs and I can't think of anything I could have posted that would have pissed anyone off. Unless it's just that I haven't posted in a while and mainly just posted pictures of my minis when I did. As for the Eldar, I'm always impressed with how old a bunch of the models are, such as the Falcon, without them really needing any real update. They really nailed the aesthetic, especially after they updated what the helmet looked like for the Guardians. (though I have since come around on the old school helms) I actually painted up a few of the 1987 "Space Elf" miniatures a few years back, and other than them being a bit short, they still look significantly better than the early Space Marine sculpts, or whatever was going on with the Tyranids initially.

Unless it's just that I haven't posted in a while and mainly just posted pictures of my minis when I did. The eldar plastics were kind of on the front edge of when GW relly improved their plastic casting and stuff, so despite being pretty old they feel more like like the present generation than the older lines that they were often contemporaneous with. I can tell that it was wild getting some of those models when they can out, they seemed completed incredible and insane (also, prior to the Falcon, the Eldar literally did not have any non-walker vehicles, if you can believe that). The models really just benefited from having really good design and implementation, they were really on the ball with the aesthetic and implementation of the designs. I have a ton of the older Eldar (because I am old) and they don't look at all shabby next to many modern miniatures - yea, the size is an issue, but Eldar haven't had the same kind of size creep that has affected some other factions. It's the saving grace of the range, despite being so old it holds up much better than others from that time do. You do really notice the way that poses are aligned to make casting work though, compared to the newer ones that are multipart and allow much more in terms of poses.

lol my discord link expired before I could claim it RIP as a guard player, the changes to morale sound dope, way more thematic as long as the morale cascade actually happens. Hopefully we'll see more stuff messing with leadership soon. And of course tanks being way better is always good, I gotta assemble my wyvern one of these days

Tiger Millionaire posted:No fallback and shoot any more if you fly was hidden in that tau article, that's new info i think? Warrhammer Community posted:The largest challenge for the T’au Empire in the new edition is the change to the Fly keyword. It no longer offers units the ability to Fall Back and shoot, which means you need to put extra effort into screening enemy charges and preventing your critical shooting units from being engaged in combat. Thankfully, screening is about to become much more effective. You can also look at new kinds of screening units, like Kroot, since you can now escape even when you’re surrounded. Well, well, well. Speaking as a Guard/Marines/Knight player this helps me a lot more than it hurts me. I wonder how that affects Aircraft? Using jump troops to keep planes from shooting the next turn could be an interesting idea.
