you know I was looking at rugs and was pretty sure you had it already, so I had to look back.

the 5x8 one is 695 at dwr which is very affordable given the site. However I am wondering how difficult it is to clean? I do have a dog after all. With my current cheap rug, the one time she puked on it, I used a vinegar/water mix to remove the stain, and then some arm and hammer powder to absorb the odor (which I then vacuum up). How does this do with cleaning stains and odors?

Because given I have tan walls and "oak" flooring, I think it would absolutely look fantastic. I'm actually having trouble finding many good multicolor rugs like this, that also have some sort of geometric pattern. I should also mention that I would only get a new rug once I get a new sofa, since my cheap one is starting to sag somewhat. I could definitely see that rug working very well with this sofa (in the gray with walnut legs)

I ordered a few blu dot sofa samples, all grays, two for the bank sofa and one for the mono. Whenever I replace the cheap sofa chaise with a real sofa then I will replace the rug as well. I thought my greyhound Abby would want something super plush (my rug has a 1" pile) but she doesn't really give a poo poo. And vacuuming it is annoying.

I will also say that I ordered prada's instructional DVD, and following his advice have gotten rid of like 40-50 items, mostly for free. And I haven't missed any of them. I even managed to get $300 for the dining table and chairs, and got a blu dot stool instead.

however I am also now bankrupt because I bought the entire outline collection from Muuto

I’ve been casually looking for an upright laundry hamper for 2 months but everything I come across either uses a cloth liner or doesn’t have holes/slots for ventilation. Sweaty clothes from the beginning of the week should be able to air out.

There’s gotta be something better than this:

e: Of course, as soon as I make this post, I come across this. Not offensively ugly, could be a bit bigger, but plastic mesh with lid for $20:

Some of you who called my huge Escher thing kitschy will enjoy hearing that while trying to move it, the metal pieces on the wall and frame that allow it to hang on got bent. I tried bending them back into place but obviously that weakens them quite a bit. So for now I took it down, but have not yet filled the holes until I decide what I want to do with this space. I may try to sell the Escher thing on craigslist.

One thing I didn't like about having such a large item (it's 28 x 91 inches) is that it made me feel compelled to fit the furniture to the item, rather than fitting the item to the furniture. My space is quite long, so I figured that was fine. But I may just want to get a loveseat instead of a full sofa, and so I would want something that could work with that.

My feeling for now is that I should just leave the space empty (not that I have much choice) and see how I feel.

And actually, this might be fine. That wall is only a focal point when you are coming out of the bathroom (lol). Otherwise when you enter the living room, the attention is drawing to the windows, as well as the lamps and plants next to it. Also whenever I get an actual colorful rug, that will attract focus as well.

there may be a good way to divide the space here, like a tall lamp between the record player and the sofa?

What do you guys reccomend as far as floor lamps? I have the lovely wobbly Amazon basics mother-daughter lamp, I hate it. I want a similar concept, with an area light and a reading light, but maybe with a style besides "depressing office". I have idiot houseplants and tropical/seaside/tiki kitch on the wall, so maybe something that would work with that? Looking in the 150-200 range.

Not too much on Wayfair is jumping out at me, and the one I do kinda like is out of stock in antique brass. I love brass :(. https://www.wayfair.com/lighting/pdp/alcott-hill-payson-71-torchiere-floor-lamp-w000443758.html

I don't know what kind of style you're looking for, but I just use an upright metal one without a bag. Nothing falls out of it and I don't have any reason to need my dirty clothes in a bag instead of a hamper—might not work so good if you are using a laundromat, though.

Wow!
This may be the only thread that can help me solve a mystery.

WHAT is the chair in this render and where can I buy it (US)? I'm 90% sure it is a Herman Miller chair and a variant of the Keyn series, but it doesn't seem to exist anywhere besides wherever my designer grabbed the image from but I love it. She also has no idea where to actually obtain it (lol).

the vinyl is only there temporarily until I get my besta

Given how the room is oriented, you have to have things against the wall. And the whole idea is to allow me to listen to music on vinyl or through my computer using one basic system (there's an audio interface and a volume controller behind my laptop).

edit: I do think I'm going to try to attach the power strip underneath the desk though using those velcro 3m things for art. Way too many cords visible.

I was inspired by the clutter comment to use the command strips to attach my power strip on the underside of the desk. I'm going to get one of those wire/mesh things to also put on the underside to deal with the extra cord length (as you can see, most of the cords are way too long). I then put the records in the far left corner. You can still see I have quite a few cords on the desk itself which I will have to deal with.

Actual designer lamps are unbelievably expensive. As usual I don't know the US market, but do you have specific online lighting retailers? In Europe we have things like https://www.lampenwelt.de

There is definitely an area between basic IKEA and Amazon stuff where you can get nice quality without having to forego food for 6 months.
