That’s funny, that is the one song I have bought after hearing it on the show. There are just some times when I’m in the mood for this song.

I never set out to be weird. It was always other people who called me weird.
I found out about UYD because there was a FYAD thread in 2010 titled "These are my nuts. This is a weird jpeg of my balls. Are you down?" and I had to figure out where that quote was from. That led me to their TCAP recaps and well the rest is history~

I understand why they didn't want "segments" but craigslist was so good I wish they'd do it again now and then. I mean they've been doing USA today snapshots and dear abby for longer than they did Craigslist so I think the show could support it.

I think the problem was both This Week In Florida and Craigslist came so early in the shows run that they probably decided they didn't want to keep doing 'bits' and let them die out. It would've been fun to see them visit that Pedo show that Chris Hansen is doing now though.

I Googled "I have a five-day load that needs a home" because it was the name of a GBS thread. Humble beginnings.

I think they also abandoned the bits because other shows were starting to do them or they were a little samey. Now that they're revisiting old stuff, it's crazy to see how much material Seth was cataloging before it was his full-time job.

Ep 632 has the best "psychic star healer at LAX weekender" type segment of all time. J is almost breaking down he is laughing so hard. It starts about an hour in. I'd really recommend giving it another listen. The whole ep is good.

one bummer thing is that the boys seem to have stopped embedding stupid episode art since like 750 or so (unless i'm missing it somewhere). i didn't even know about it until i started downloading all the old episodes again because the iOS podcasts app doesn't show it.

anyways a lot of it is great so i made a quick page to host the ones that were embedded in the old eps (NSFW but honestly who's working in an office right now):

I thought my podcast app just stopped downloading the art, but I guess they just stopped adding it.

FYI, it looks like they are all stacking on top of one another on mobile.

Great page collecting this art. Reminds me of deleting 471 because i didn't want my phone to be displaying the episode art while I was at work

Got around to the gas leak fight on my ... probably 4th? trip through the archives. Maintain that the overt question is undecidable, but Jonathan is more or less completely right in taking offense to Seth's characterization of his position.

Had forgotten that that earlier in the episode Jonathan remarks about feeling kinda woozy for a moment and Seth says that's been happening to him all day -- I was going in honestly kinda thinking of the gas leak as a post facto excuse for the one time they really touched a nerve but that made me reconsider.

yeah it's some javascript library for making grid collages so i'm sure it's weird on mobile. just scroll and pinch a bit it should fix itself.

Yeah, the first time they read that pamphlet when Seth got it in early '08. "Yo, you got that Boom Nail? Who's holding the Dynamite Pencil?"

There's been some repetition in the look back eps but I'm enjoying the nostalgia trip. I also bought myself a copy of that Letters to Mt. Wilson Observatory book; the stuff that Jonathan has read just scratches the surface of the level of Depression-era crazy going on in there.

The last couple eps have been Seth's old notes, starting with '07 I think. Some stuff has been talked about before (I think they've even said as much) but also a lot of stuff they never mentioned or talked about.

A lot of "You think 2008 is crazy? Buckle up!"

It's both comforting and horrifying.

KICK BAMA KICK

I think it started an ep or two before 800 as a thing to mark the occasion and then the protests happened and the took a week+ off to stay out of the way of that and kept rolling with the retrospective thing when they came back. I imagine they would have gone back into the normal routine by now if not for the situation kinda clamping down on the flow of regular material but I am just speculating on that point. I'm enjoying it anyway, happened to be relistening to the original episodes from the exact period they've been revisiting so it was serendipitous for me.

IIRC: 100 they did their first video; 200, 300, 400 they would mention it but really didn't do anything special with the episodes; 500 was a filmed live show; 600 was Jonathan guesses commerical voice actors (I liked it!); don't remember what they did for 700.

I thought I remembered 300 being a live show that John serenaded Seth with “don’t know much” at the end and it was really sweet.

The year-themed episodes have been nice, they've done little thematic episodes before and I've always enjoyed them. There's a nice flow that Seth and Jonathan seem to vibe with when they stick with a year or Ask Amys.
