I don’t consider myself educated enough about the subject to make claims about what should or should not be called racism, but we both disagree with the point you were originally responding to. However, I disagree with this reply. White privilege in China is not just privilege among foreigners. White people enjoy significant privileges not enjoyed by locals. That doesn’t mean locals see white people as superior, or don’t see them as inferior (more on that later), but that there are things available to white people because of their skin color that simply aren’t available to anyone else. High paying ESL jobs is a really obvious case, where an Eastern European with poor English would be given preference for a job over an American-born, ethnically Chinese native English speaker. Similarly, universities admit white international students at a very high rate and provide full scholarships with stipends several times what are available to poor Chinese students. Even as a white person working in a Chinese environment, you can avoid an enormous amount of bullshit and have to do comparatively less work for more pay than a similarly qualified Chinese person. Also, there are a lot of really gross expats with lovely behavior that’s tolerated only because of their whiteness. That’s not to say there is no discrimination against white people. Far from it. There is consistent, significant discrimination, and while we enjoy many privileges, also many opportunities are completely closed to us or have nearly insurmountable barriers. But for white expats in China, there isn’t really a clear racist power structure with Han Chinese at the top and white foreigners in some place below that. If you read the article I linked, what’s interesting is the Chinese right tends to consider whites and East Asians as equals at the top of the global racial hierarchy. They see themselves as superior to the west, not because of inherent racial superiority, but because “white leftists” (mostly an equivalent coinage to SJW) are allowing the west to be overrun by the lesser races.

at least in the  ICE camps the detainees aren't forced to give up their religion. on the other hand  does provide free vocational training to its detainees? i dont think the ICE camps have started doing that yet so china obviously has the better run concentration camps.
