It's sodium bicarbonate or possibly potassium bicarbonate if it's a newer system. If there is a fire, it will react and create CO2 and displace the oxygen. Getting a poo poo ton in your lungs isn't great for you but that's true of most dusts. But not particularly scary from an exposure standpoint as most things in this thread.

Bonus points, have a Masshole and a RI driver go for the same parking space. Fun fact: RI drivers don't get a fancy name because it's already an insult.

It's fine. You can't mess with plots you don't own anyway. It's easier than lifting your equipment every time you turn around.

chitoryu12 posted:They do get lessons in exactly what they're going to be doing before they do it. The first time they have to use something like a table saw as part of a challenge, they're taught how to properly use it and are also shown by the experts how the task is supposed to be done. The guy freaking out about not being taught how to use a table saw was told "You don't have to use it and nobody else is." There have been several times where the show's crew or host have run in and stopped someone from doing something obviously dangerous or if they were displaying such bad handling that they were doubtlessly going to hurt themselves, which is why all of the injuries they had were relatively minor instead of anyone being hospitalized. Yeah like I said I think they get more lessons than they actually show but in season 5 a guy chainsaws a bedroom door in the first five minutes. Stuff like that makes me question what is genuine. I don't find it hard to believe bad handymen will use the wrong tools and use them incorrectly so out of all Reality TV it may need less manipulation than usual but people are always getting told how to act and what to do for TV.

From what it looks like, the machine requires two hands to actually initiate the cutting motion - you can see the operator's hands go completely out of frame before any cutting starts.

Doesn't seem too bad. If it's like this one, it requires you to use both hands to push two buttons so you can't have your hands in there when it cuts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw_BCnicEao

Yep, we have a couple of those machines and they have a lot of interlocks. In ours you have to simultaneously hold two buttons on opposite ends of the machine and then use a foot pedal to actually start the cut. Still scary as poo poo

Bum the Sad posted:says that only came about because someone stood one one leg and pressed one of the buttons with his foot while shoving his free hand in there. I mean, there are dozens of easier ways to press a button remotely if you want to bypass the safeties. The goal is to make the device safer to operate, but you can't engineer out everything, and after a certain point, if you make the device too difficult to use safely, people will bypass the safeties on their own as a matter of course. Something like a pedal and two buttons is easy for an operator to do, which minimizes both the risks of their hands being in the area and a bypass of the safety mechanisms.
