Not directly related to stocks but my mortgage internship is turning into a lock desk assignment tomorrow. Any tips for that position?

Do not unlock the desk, and beware of bringing any keys, hair pins, or paperclips that you or others might bring in, which, while rare, could unlock the lock desk inadvertently. Chair is optional.

I'm putting a stupid simple (in some ways) bot that I've been coding for the past few months live today with $10k under management. It's generally made decent money in paper trading so hoping it will do well live too.

Somewhat related can anyone recommend me a good tax service? I expect this thing to make a few hundred trades today - assuming I don't have to kill it - so I have a feeling the tax forms are gonna be hell no matter what happens.

According to a Sofi survey last month, 34% of respondents said they increased trading "to replace activities that COVID restrictions have eliminated" aka sports gambling. 83% received government stimulus (how is this not 100%?) and 50% "used a portion of it to buy into the stock market" which sounds like first time investors?

Free commissions I hope. Commissions eat into high trades.

Yes I'm trading on Alpaca - there's no way in hell this would work with any commissions - I mean maybe if I was trading like 10x as much, but then I don't know at what point I have to worry about sufficient liquidity/slippage.

Good call on making sure it's a fixed cost - I've pretty much done my taxes in turbotax in the past so I have no ideas about how to find/vet a CPA.

If there's more than one way to do a job, and one of those ways will result in disaster, then he will do it that way.
There's software that'll read your trade history over the exchange's API or downloaded csv file and generate the tax documents from it.

If you have time you can probably code it yourself too.

Ok, the party is back on. This is just the right level of volatility and volume as well. Let's see what we can scrape off this weird monster.

Also feeling the slight tax apprehension. I'm very likely going to have to pay someone to tell me how much I need to pay the government next year.

Used to be easy enough that I could bang it out myself in a couple hours. My finances look like a bowl of spaghetti this year.

So far so good. Was up $500 at around 10, but now it's up a bit under half of that. It basically tries to follow trends on leveraged ETFs and their inverse, which tend to trend pretty strongly these days. In backtesting and now running live, it kind of slowly loses money when things go sideways, but it seems not enough to wipe out profits. So it's a bit of a balancing act between buying too early vs missing out on big movements - classic dilemma I guess if you're trying to time the market.

My pet stock SEDG hitting an all time high again, woo. Too bad I only hold a little bit, but I'm not about to start gambling with all my retirement savings.

Also AQN which I have some of is going to be raising $900M through shares. I don't know enough to know how it will affect the company and it's stock price, but it seems weird that after the news broke the stock price dropped down to around what the price will be (C$17.10) and has since rebounded to C$18.15.

I keep thinking about betting against the US because it looks like everything is about to get (more) loving stupid. It would probably be more prudent to just bet for something else instead of against the US since the timing seems tricky.

Betting against US capital markets is really, really dumb.

Look at any 5 year snip of the S&P 500. Your best case is +50% and worst case is like -100% with a strong tilt towards the negative.

Could you elaborate on your general strategy for limiting potential losses / risk management while selling options? I've stayed away due to 'selling to open' being associated with a large potentially uncapped loss.

Sounds like you're majority selling calls, are they covered or naked? Just learning obviously :)

I just bought a new car in December but I'd be tempted to buy the Bronco anyway if it wasn't for the fact that the area behind the rear row is too small for my dogs.

I haaaaate SUVs and pickup trucks, but I've always been a fan of the 2 door K5 blazer. I can't figure out how to build them with only 2 doors on the ford site, but damnit, I may be interested in these if, and only if I could get it in 2 doors.

If it's enticing me to possibly want one, they likely have a hit. I may pick up some F as well.

Place your bets
$ERI $CZR deal has the last regulatory thing due tomorrow. $CZR trading like $ERI should be $42.25 and $ERI is $40.

There’s also a huge short interest in ERI and the downside from their share offering didn’t happen even with there being 0 shares to borrow. I think there’s gonna be a short squeeze

There are few car communities more rabidly loyal to the badge and the nebulous concept of the "lifestyle" than the Jeep community, though. Not going to see too many "Life is Good" t-shirts with Ford Broncos on them. I think the Bronco is neat but I doubt it will make any real impression on the segment.
