I weirdly miss Cinemagique. That show was similar to Terminator 3D with actors jumping in and out of the cinema screen.

A wolf was no less a wolf because a whim of chance caused him to run with the watch-dogs.

Didn't fit on Primeval Whirl, never did Stitch....we will miss Rivers of Light, but only the first iteration we saw with CM in costume etc.

Stitch was fine, I didn't like the part where he burped hot dogs and the seat released a scent of that, that grossed me out too much to ride it again.

That site mentions there were rumors about turning it into Wreck it Ralph ride, but I dunno how you'd repurpose that ride for Wreck it Ralph. I'd like to see an actual WiR ride though

I really liked Rivers of Light :( and I always saw it packed both with the human performers and the newer version with live-action lion king.

I don't get this move. I never had a problem with Primeval even if it was a little rough. It had decent throughput and was a cute little spinning mouse coaster.

I never thought Stitch would reopen.

Same... it really was a beautiful show, a love letter to cinema and that special effect of the sword splitting the screen at the end used to get me every time!

I loved the storytellers on the boats, so they got rid of it.

I loved the end of the show, so they changed it to promote lion king.

Like there was a point where I was like drat Animal Kingdom, what'd I do to you? I would love to see a solid story happen throughout it. The bones are there but it's just not fully realized.

I understand Primeval not opening while aerosolized droplets will kill people since it's such a barf-ready experience. And Stitch closed like three years ago.

I remember back in 2012 you could meet Ralph at Hollywood Studios and they had the meeting room set up like Game Central Station. Very cool.

The best thing I ever read about Stitch was on Passport 2 Dreams, which claimed internal polling showed guests had a less enjoyable time at Magic Kingdom if they experienced Stitch. It was so unpleasant it was poisoning the entire day for people. Who knows if thats true, but i hope it is, because its an amazing fact.

Closing Rivers of Light is weird. They poured a lot of money into infrastructure and technology for that show. Presumably there'll be something on the water for nighttime entertainment, but it must be spectacularly expensive to maintain the barges, because that's a lot of money for just a few years of show.

Anyone know how Medieval Time and Pirates Adventure are dealing with this?

I remember Pirates just recently were able to fix their building after the last hurricane passed through and messed it up, only for the rebuild to cause a fire.

Primeval is probably going because they couldn’t find a way to modify the restraints comfortably after a kid fell out of a similar model in the UK a while back.

can we just agree that rides that make us experience something disgusting are 1999-2004 humor and really outdated Figment and should be fixed up with something new.

A new Figment with Dreamfinder, I mean. gently caress Inside Out.

Stitch was bad and I'm glad it's dead.

There were a lot of errors the multiple times I saw the show. Like; I saw one whole show that actually worked all the way through and all the others had various degrees of tech problems. The animal barges hosed up and froze. The big pillar of fire didn't actually light. One of the flowers lost synch with the others and just kind of politely meandered off due to momentum.

E: I'm sorry, It's Tough to be a Bug was 1998, not 1999. Regardless. Some rear end in a top hat had a thing for stankiness and shoved it in those rides for 6 years and I hope they were forcibly retired for it :colbert:

i say this as a hapless parent who forgot all of those things happened in the show and took a toddler to it, a toddler who was traumatized. but i also say them as a person who thinks the best anyone could say about that sequence is that it didn’t totally ruin the rest of the show for them.

tough to be a bug has an extremely good queue area though.

The funny thing is I enjoy the show for that reason, but I will admit it has some serious tonal whiplash.

Over the course of the show, you get sprayed with "acid", stung by hornets, massive spiders drop over head, stink gassed (a smell reminiscent of post morning coffee breath), and bugs scooting across your butt.

Definitely traumatizing for younger audiences.

We did Stitch once in like 2015, and we had to leave soon after it started because our youngest kid freaked out. I didn't want to go on it, but Silly Burrito kind of made us. I told him it was bonkers and a bad idea, but he just had to see. So we sat down for 5 min and then had to be escorted out when our kid flipped out. So that was fun.

Also, It's Tough To Be A Bug can die in a fire for all I care. I hate that show.

In 1997 or 1998, a crew of extremely confused Disney staffers watched as a middle-class family pried a young child’s hands off the bars in the queue for the ride. This child was screaming as if his life depended on it, begging and pleading not to be taken into It’s a Small World, obviously terrified out of his mind over what horrors awaited him in the dark. Earlier that day, this child was allowed into Alien Encounter. We still make fun of my brother for it 20-odd years later, but it totally scarred him as a 4- or 5-year-old.

That Imagineer was actually Eisner. His teenage son convinced him Disney needed more intense attractions to draw in older teens and young adults. After it was opened, Eisner closed it down to make it MORE intense and scary, despite a lot of initial feedback saying it was too scary for MK.

Personally, I loved the attraction as a small child, but I’m weird.
