Enzo and Cass invaded the ROH and New Japan co-promoted MSG show during (edit: I also forgot it was during the match :lmao:) the IWGP and ROH tag title match (with 2 New Japan teams and 2 ROH teams) and attacked various participants

ROH had planned this as part of the show, but didn't let New Japan or its talent in on it despite it occurring 1) as part of their show too and 2) in a match with their talent in it too

New Japan management and talent were rightfully upset about this, Enzo and Cass were never allowed back in ROH despite it supposedly being the planned start of them in the company

Tama was on the team that won the match, he was given a mic and screentime backstage after it, that video is the lovely result

This is a cool take by Swole, but leaving that out was probably a strategic decision by the union, so it can't be weaponised against them by claiming they're just blackmailing the city for more money.

At the G1 Supercard last year (NJPW/ROH co-promoted show in Madison Square Garden) there was a title vs title four way tag match between GoD, EVIL and SANADA, the Briscoes and Villain Enterprises (Brody King and PCO).

Near the end of the match two guys started making a ruckus in the crowd. In the building it took all the attention away from the match as people realized it was fuckin Enzo and Cass of all people trying to storm the ring. The Briscoes and some other ROH guys stopped in the middle of the match and started beating the piss out of them until they were escorted out. Meanwhile the New Japan guys didn’t seem to know what was going on, and finished the match anyway (there was another angle where Yano stole the IWGP belts after the match). The new japan guys were visibly annoyed by all the poo poo going on at ringside and left silently while the bullshit happened. The crowd was so confused and were trying to figure out if it was a work or a shoot that when Tanahashi and ZSJ made their entrances it was clearly not as loud as everyone thought it would or should be.

Turns out it was a work by ROH, but supposedly they didn’t notify the new japan guys this was happening. GoD let that frustration out in this video, everyone agreed that ROH was the weak link of that show, and Enzo and Cass were dropped completely from ROH without ever actually having a match.

Enzo and Cass had gotten fired from WWE, and were apparently (if memory serves) supposed to show up and guerrilla ambush (pun intended) the winners of the ROH and NJPW Heavy tag-team championship match [edit]during the match at ROH and NJPW's big show, G1 Supercard, at Madison Square Garden during Mania week 2019.

except they did it stupidly and it really pissed off all the NJPW side as they didn't know what was going on.

the Wikipedia article summarizes things as "Critics of G1 Supercard mostly praised New Japan Pro-Wrestling's matches and angles while mostly criticizing Ring of Honor's matches and angles" which is a loving understatement.

You didn't like ROH paying off an open challenge on social media, running a Nitro beatdown to take the person who accepted the challenge out of the match only for a DIFFERENT person to answer the open challenge, get beat up in a weirdly sexual gang beatdown for the first person and the first person's stable made to make the save and make the match a hardcore trios match.

You also didn't like the Beautiful PeopleAllure?

They did not jump the winners, because the winners were GOD (a New Japan team) they Jumped the Brisoces and the other ROH team to set up some kind of thing, but ROH tried to play it as a shoot.

The ROH/New Japan supershow is proof that maybe we shouldn't be so harsh on the Booker T/Buff Bagwell match that tanked the idea of WWF running shows under the WCW brand. At least with Booker and Buff, WCW had been the enemy for years. ROH managed to bomb worse on their own show.

Also worth noting that ever since relations between ROH and New Japan have been super distant and they're only just starting to thaw a tiny bit with the planned Marty/Jay match

I don't remember if he was the last entrant or did the "got thrown out of the ring but not eliminated and sneaked back in at the end" thing, either way it was also terrible

that show was so weird. It was like at one and the same time New Japan were running a really good short show and Ring Of Honor were running a big sack of crap where a black guy got whipped with a chain by Bully Ray, and reality kept fritzing from one to the other. It did a great job of proving that ROH wasn't ready for prime time.

Gumball Gumption

Also the Enzo/Cass worked shoot happened a few hours after Brett was jumped by a fan at the WWE Hall of Fame. No one in the audience seemed to know what was going on and we really only realized it was Enzo and Cass at the end. No one was happy that they thought a real incident was happening and then were even unhappier to see Enzo and Cass.

G1 Supercard had to have been a much better idea when it was proposed and organized than when it happened, thanks to so many people leaving ROH/NJPW (especially the crew who left to form AEW).

I don’t think they killed the heat as much as it was a match that isn’t really suited for the kind of crowd they were in front of.

Also let’s just for shits and giggles assume that burner account is real. You’re telling me that wrestlers in FLORIDA can’t find another weed dealer?

According to that burner, they said it's free weed and a free ring to train in. Wrestlers like free things, and are willing to overlook the optics.

kenny king was the first entrant, actually (I remember because Suzuki was number 2 and someone on commentary made a bad joke about kings). his winning was honestly super foreshadowed, but I liked the rumble more than most (and the muta pop is an all timer).

That's a good point. It sucks that the narrative is so easily controlled to read 'greedy unions!!!11" but it's undeniably true that that's what would happen.

since goods from iran are sanctioned isn't it just asking for a different illegal thing

edit: and to note, an illegal thing that will more likely get your stuff flagged online. if you include iran in a venmo payment your payment will 100% get flagged. where as if you just wrote weed, no one cares

same goes for cuban https://slate.com/technology/2020/02/paypal-venmo-iran-syria-sanctions-crime-detection-system.html
