Y/O: Hakuho / Kakuryu / Asanoyama S/K: Shodai / Mitakeumi / Daiesho M1-5: Abi / Endo / Onosho M6-10: Ishiura / Ryuden / Myogiryu M11+: Wakatakakage / Terunofuji / Kotonowaka Lots of good picks in M11+. I hope Tochinoshin has been able to use the extra time off to recover as much as anyone else, but just can't pick him with Terunofuji and Wakatakakage both returning to makuuchi. Really excited for Waka, it was a huge bummer when he got injured so early in his makuuchi debut.

I hope we get some serious kaiju action. Also looking forward to seeing who's been able to train properly given the ban on degeiko (training with rikishi in other stables) due to COVID-19. I think we're in for a very odd basho, given how long it's been since they've been in the ring, and since many of these guys have even seen each other.

just eyeballing it i'd say takakeisho has benefited quite a lot from the extra time to heal. which is great because he's a fantastic fighter to watch when he's on and it was really rough watching only flashes of brilliance shine through the hindrance of a seriously compromised body.

Having the small crowd makes this basho feel better to me even if I know that there still shouldn't be one. This day felt kind of weird though. All of the older former Ozeki in the bottom of the division, Kakuyru loving up in the dumbest way, and everyone just looking rusty.

kakuryu seems like exactly the sort of person to come back from an extended layoff rusty as gently caress but this is pretty sad. if you put on that sort of display and either your body or your brain nopes out you should probably retire. which would be a drat shame since he looked great in the last tournament.

If I understand it right, if Hakuho isn't available for trading but others in the category are, you pick one of those others. Apparently Kakuryu's official Kyujo reason is a right elbow injury.

Gonna drop Kakuryu then and pick up Takakeisho as a replacement. Also that's odd. He looked to have tweaked/landed awkwardly on his right leg on Day 1 which made me think it was more of a leg injury than anything.
