I didn't answer my own question, I just showed a previous post showing how I nailed it with my nice vague "anything can happen" statement. At least volatility did get crushed. I did trade pre earnings, a small bet on a 3x bull ETN. Flat or slightly down even though the stock was up, which I think is because the market maker bases it on options pricing so volatility played a part there too. Can't trade it outside Norwegian hours, so it's currently burning up pretty bad. Maybe pivot whatever remains to the 3x bear, then check in on it late august.

my other understanding is that you can lose a loooooooot of money very easily with options, and thus I need to stay away 100%, as I love a stupid rear end gamble lmao :yikes:

Yes. Unlike with actual shares of stuff it is really easy to lose 100% of your money with options.

I commend Wall Street for playing this so well, getting a market sell-off right as Congress is in the thick of negotiations on the next stimulus package.

I expect a reversal next week once negotiations (for any end-of-July bill) are nearly done.

I've been watching Pharma Mar, S.A. (a Spanish biotech with a coronavirus drug in trials) and they seem to have done a 1:12 reverse split yesterday. But charts are being weird about it:

Yahoo 1M chart looks correct

But Yahoo 6M chart seems messed up, at a date that is included in the above 1M chart:

Anyone got a charting thing that'll show a Spanish company, denominated in Euro, properly taking the split into account?

Also did anyone buy Pharma Mar, S.A. when I posted about it in May, because I didn't and I wish I had.

Leperflesh posted:

So a couple days ago I read a report summarizing a few different therapies that have shown initial promise in treating patients with the covid. The investigators reviewed 2000 already-existing drugs and then tested 49 promising ones to see which ones affected mechanisms that covid-19 uses. (They published a non-peer-reviewed report in Nature on April 30th.) The article mentions a few of the drugs that showed some promise, so I decided to look into them.

Ternatin-4. Seems to be a family of research chemicals; Clearsynth manufactures them, although it's not clear to me whether they hold a patent.
Zotatifin. Patent is held by eFFECTOR Therapeutics, which has been testing it in phase 1 and 2 trials for effectiveness against certain cancers.
Plitidepsin. Patent is held by a small Spanish company called PharmaMar, brand name Aplidin. They've actually announced clinical trials vs. Covid-19.
haloperidol and melperone. Already available as generics, so I'm ignoring it.
clemastine and cloperastine, also generic antihistamines, ignoring them.
PB28 and progesterone are hormones, I don't think there's any play here either.

So, Clearsynth Labs is a research chemical manufacturer, and I'm really not sure about the patent situation with Ternatin-4. Could use some help there.
eFFECTOR Therapeutics is privately held.

That leaves PharmaMar. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/PHM.MC/ is a publicly traded company and it looks like TD will let me trade it.

It's currently trading at an all-time high, around $5.80 a share. The fundamentals, such that I can see, show a steady drawdown of funding, steady decrease of revenues, decreasing budget for R&D, steady decrease of assets. Liabilities are also decreasing quarter by quarter, but otherwise this just looks like one of those pharmas you find all the time, a microcap that maybe has some promising therapies to research but if they don't make it out of phase 3 with a success in the next year or so, they're probably toast.

But if Plitidepsin turns out to be a successful treatment for Covid-19? So I'm considering a gamble despite being 8 days late to the party, and I was wondering if any of you guys have dabbled in microcap foreign pharmas and have a second opinion.

edit: Marketwatch's page gave me the chart I wanted, nevermind!

Edit: he links a book in the first paragraph. I would suggest you download the sample that gives you the first couple of chapters. I did after another goon mentioned it and it was very insightful. It all makes a lot of sense and puts the current state of the market in a new perspective for me.

I was ok with the book with a couple eyebrow raises through 4 chapters and now just finished chapter 5 and they’ve gone full-on crazy-person “Carry! Carry! Everything is carry!” I will try to post a full review in a future post.
