Also this is really a souls-lite game. They all really need to be played with a controller imo.

I never tried playing with a M+KB because I couldn’t imagine that going well. This game definitely needs the sticks/face buttons/triggers.

Well I didn't try out the game with kb+m but it's not that hard unless you haven't played any Soulslike then maybe it is hard. I don't know if anyone here played the game with the recent patch where there is challenge modes and ng+. But it's so stupid that ng+ doesn't carry over your stim upgrades from previous run. The challenge mode is really hard on jedi grandmaster unless you have at least 8 stims. The base game even on jedigrandmaster you can get by with 3 stims but the gauntlet aspect of challenge mode makes it impossible to not get hit and fighting mobs in Soulslike games is always a struggle.

Honestly can't imagine it as a keyboard + mouse game, especially with very little aiming. Controllers are great, as always I recommend experimenting with redefining the controls since the default choices are not great.

Played it just fine with KB+M with slightly adjusted controls. Making mouse thumb buttons map to dodging for instance, and some autohotkey scripts for automatic button mashing when required. I'm terrible with controllers in pretty much anything but SNES games and I am almost always more comfortable with KB+M in any game I play so take my experience with a grain of salt. This game definitely strikes me as the type that would play better using a controller if you were accustomed to one.

Turn off the dialogue and the resulting boost in your mental state by not having to listen to that garbonzo will have you slicing and dicing enemies like fresh vegetables

It's excellent, battery lasts forever, has a great D-Pad, and is extremely comfortable for basically everyone. It is hands down the best cost:quality gamepad on the market currently.

Looking back on this game I liked it with the exception of two things. 1) The exploration needed better rewards than ponchos and lightsaber colors 2) The bounty hunters in the game just feel weird and tacked on. I don't know how to explain it but it feels like there was meant to be more to them but they just exist as slightly harder enemies in weird locations. It feels like a whole system was meant to be there.

Also it needs more bosses.

The first time I played through was before I played Sekiro, and the second time was after. It's definitely not as sharp and responsive, but the world and the characters really worked for me. I'd love to see this crew turn up in a Disney+ series at some point, but I assume they're getting a second game, so no big deal. I also imagine if Respawn had had another 6-8 months, the reception might have been very different.

I was shocked when the kidnapped by pirates segment was over after one quick exploration sequence followed by an area battle.

Yeah it would have greatly benefited from a bit more dynamic change throughout the world. I hope the success makes room for a 2nd one which simply improves on FO. Could work well since IW did that with a lot of their games.

I managed to get through Fallen Order on M&KB - just need to map your buttons appropriately (What's this "Slow" "Push" and "Pull" thing the game gives you but is only useful 10% of the time?) I use Push on troopers standing on cliffs, Pull on Nightbrother archers, and use Slow on environmental hazards that need it rather than in combat, where your Force meter is better used on closing the gap to enemies rather than any of the fancy moves they gave you aside from the dual saber attack you get at the end of the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQnAMx3LPBE Practice makes perfect too, of course

Fallen Order's half-off on Steam, and I'd say $30 is well-worth being able to craft your own battle arenas and re-fight the bosses on its own on top of the base game

For anyone who's interested they've just released an official version of the soundtrack - it's over 3 hours long! It should be available on most of the main streaming platforms. The music of this game was really, really good so I'm happy it has a proper release.

Love them horror strings.

I just got this for PC and holy poo poo the stuttering and performance issues are insane. Any tips? I have a 2500k @ 4.3 and a 1070 GPU which admittedly the CPU is old but drat I've never seen a game run this lovely even on the lowest settings.

It stutters a lot on area transition which I think is just bad texture loading. Are you on an SSD?

With a 2500k @ 4.3 first thing I'd check is your CPU usage % and disk activity while it is happening. If either the disk or one or more CPU cores are hitting 100% utilization than that is probably the answer. Also I suppose not having enough memory could cause that kind of issue, but you would probably have bigger problems than just one game if that was the case. Your 1070 should be perfectly fine, its buttery smooth on my 1080 which isn't *that* much bigger.

Yep. It's an older Samsung 850 Evo. It does it during gameplay randomly and cut scenes and freezes for 1-2 seconds sometimes while the audio continues. It's incredibly jarring. Edit: yeah looks like 1-4 cores are all hitting 100% when it happens. Anything that can really be done short of upgrading? I'm well aware how old it is but it holds up well in everything else I've played so I'm a bit surprised at how bad it runs. 1440p/144hz (but lol in this game even on "medium" settings which is the lowest ) 16gb ram i5 2500k 1070 1tb 850 evo ssd Suburban Dad fucked around with this message at 02:34 on Sep 5, 2020 |

Especially with new consoles coming out that aren’t powered by basically netbook CPUs. The graphics card has some life left but that CPU is going to be a problem in basically everything soon.

I mostly play older games so it's never been a problem. Seems a lot of folks online complain about stuttering so I'm not alone. I turned Vsync on (enabled in nvidia control panel but wasn't in game) and that made it 80% better but then it just froze after a couple minutes of gameplay.

I have almost the same specs as you, targeting 1440p 144hz, only major difference is that I have a 8700k. And the game runs perfect. 2500k is a goat tier processor but it's time to take it to the glue factory at this point. 9 years holy poo poo

Try disabling the Xbox bar game capture and any other similar Shadowplay kind of stuff. I was getting obnoxious stutter driving me nuts in some newer games when I was on a 2500k last year and the Xbox capture was the culprit (even though it was fine in other games previously).
