Sorry I meant to say I hope that the police use maximum force and kill or maim a bunch of innocent people, thus paving a way for a proletarian uprising and socialist utopia

also here's a stupid take

Toronto is too hot, too cold, too wet, too noisy, filled with lovely traffic, crazy assholes, crooked cops, milquetoast politicians, real estate scams, and corporate bigwigs

And also the best city in Canada with the brightest future

If I had the money and a job there, I'd move back to Halifax in a second. Everyone I knew who moved to Alberta either hates living there, or became a Canadian Chud.

SUCK A MALE CAMEL'S DICK WITH MIRACLE WHIP!!
Its 2002, or maybe 2003 or even 2004. The year doesn't matter, but it was at the plateau of the fast and furious hype.****
I'm leaving Darknights (ricer car show) in my riced out Mazda Protege 5. Ahead there is a four way stop signed intersection.
Since this is the height of the F&F hype, there is a staggeringly large police presence, and as I get close to the stop sign, the riced out Honda two cars in front of me rolls the stop sign and gets immediately pulled over.
The car immediately ahead of me, comes to a complete stop and then proceeds. My turn comes around and I roll the stop sign. For some reason the cops decided to completely single me out, out of all the other cars and pull me over for some bullshit reason (clearly not because I just rolled a stop sign).
When I get home, I immediately go on the Local car club message board, and bitch, moan and complain that, leaving a rice-mobile show, with a large police presence, the cops are looking for excuses to pull people over, and despite the fact that I watched the car two cars in front of me get pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, its total and complete bullshit, that I ALSO got pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, whilst the police are just looking for excuses to pull people over.

Then I have myself validated by the vast majority of board members who also talk about how that is bullshit, and the few members who call me out for being a dipshit that should have known better are chastised for pointing out a member's stupidity, that they could have easily avoided.

**** True Story.

Yup. If I'm able to retire, that is where I will go.

Or if I had winfall i'd go back in a second. Funny thing is i left Halifax mostly because I found it incredibly boring, but right after I moved things really picked up, like for example, the local comics scene exploded, probably with help from Darwin Cooke moving there and becoming a fixture in the local scene.

Plus I cannot afford to really enjoy Toronto. Going to the movies with my friends is easily a 60$+ night.

Is that bad or good. In Vancouver $600k gets you a 40 year old wood frame condo, maybe two bedrooms in a mediocre area.

Well this is only a city of maybe half a million if you include Waterloo. It shouldn't be that expensive.

Well yeah, DTK is the probably the hottest real estate market outside of the GTA, but that still sounds cheap. Did they actually get a house because that sounds like condo prices. That should be a good investment for them as the area will only get bigger but like TO, it's all luxury condos to play up to the IT professionals that they thinking are flocking to the area.

I was in Halifax last year (during the hurricane even) and down by the harborfront is gentrifying quick. You can barely drive down there due to all the condo construction.

It is but they are growing upward with all the condos. There's tons of farm land in north Waterloo but the Mennonites don't tend to retire to Florida so those farms are going nowhere. Some of those families are rich as gently caress too.

Recently some poll said that KW was one of the best up and coming regions for tech workers but when you look at the results its mainly because companies don't pay Valley prices here.

Oh yeah this reminds me. I took a friend to Toronto the show him around as he'd only seen the airport and convention center. So were up around Spadina, near Kinsington Market, and he want to go to Smoke's. I explained to him that these are chains and there's one in Terminal 3 of YYZ if he really wanted to but he was instant.

Anyway we go in and for the entire 35 minutes we were there, they were playing hair metal on the radio the entire time. Do all Smokes do that?
