Has anyone tried Blightbound? It's in EarlyAccess and what sounds interesting is that it's some kind of co-op dungeon-crawler. Anyone had a go? https://store.steampowered.com/app/1263070/Blightbound/

HerpicleOmnicron5 posted:Well, that's some thoroughly unexpected content from the title. Definitely something for an age gate. Not sure an age gate would cover that, the described content sounds like it would be at the most charitable interpretation straddling the legal line in a lot of places especially if there is a patch to uncensor it. No way Valve is willing to gently caress around with that and also gently caress those guys. Valve should be explicit when they remove content but flipside nobody made the developers translate underage porn and try and figleaf it by going well technically we removed the Explicit Content. I'm not ready to go to bat for this visual novel just yet, but if you like spooky ghosts and mysteries, my first 3 hours with the game have been very enjoyable. It features one of the best visual novel flashlights I've seen. It's the anxiety that comes with illuminating a really dark spot that the game seems to be able to hit. There's also no porn as far as I can tell, just spooks and the occasional spelling error. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1100430/Spirit_Hunter_NG/ E: Still waiting on you, Subverse.

HuniePop is still on Steam last I checked, along with everything else that's famous for operating via a wink-wink-nudge-nudge content restoration patch but I don't think it had any underage or rapey overtones. I could be wrong about that though

There's plenty of straight up porn on Steam. And then this stuff: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1158010/UnHolY_ToRturEr/ I don't know. Maybe there's so much volume, it's too difficult to be consistently enforcing rules and they're playing catch-up/going off reports only? Going off enough flags from X amount of users makes the most sense to me. My condolences to any employees having to review/play those games.

Yeah, the reason I pointed out Bokuten wasn’t the VN but rather removing a game from sale without notifying the publisher. The fact that there seemingly no procedure or guideline means a game gets removed without any kind of oversight. It happens a lot to the VN genre and while I may or may not have first hand knowledge of what causes it, the lack of care is what annoys me. Taken with a grain of salt, Manga Gamer did note they went to extra lengths to make this all ages. The practice of patching back in 18+ stuff is a whole different story to me.

No mistaking that AC Odyssey is a beautiful looking world, but their design decision to turn into a single player MMO with MMO mechanics was a terrible decision

As long as the curve between meh and good and great weapons isn’t too bad, random stat weapons aren’t too bad. It really just makes things slower or faster. I like MMOs and AC:Origins is a good game. I just want more beard Bayek.

Apropos of nothing, Devil May Cry V was such a good game. It's weird, it feels like it came out, was widely loved and then immediately forgotten about but it is just fantastic.

Honestly I couldn't get into it. I've been halfway through it for six months now. I loved DMC3 back in the day and Bayonetta 1 but DMC5 is just not clicking with me. The environments are all so depressing and not fun to be in and the enemies are mostly gross. Imo the character switching is just bad, it's not like these games lack depth.

Didn’t DMC V drop in the middle of an absolutely stacked release window, too?

They released it a month and a half after RE2Remake and two weeks before Sekiro was released.

DMCV's enemies are just not interesting to look at, and most of the environments are forgettable with all the roots and the repetitive Qlipoth. It's a fantastic game, easily the best in the genre, but I think the aesthetics hurt its appeal a lot.

Jamfrost posted:There's plenty of straight up porn on Steam. The one thing Steam hates is porn games that include underage girls. And since trying to guess the age of anime characters by looks alone is futile, one of the big ways they enforce it is by checking VNs for girls wearing school uniforms as well as games being set in school settings. It's not like that in the US but in lots of countries (if not most) including Japan, students have to wear school uniforms all the way up to the last year of highschool or so. That's why, combined with genre tropes, porn game characters portrayed with a school uniform are extremely likely to have been originally conceived as being around 16 years old or so. Historically, publishers of both regular and porn games took to including disclaimers that any character in any game with risque content was guaranteed to be over the age of 18 even when that was clearly bullshit. Valve cracked down on that practice a few years back though, back when VN devs were first told that their games would be submitted to more strict moderation, and it's a practice that continues today. My guess is that MangaGamer swore up and down that the game was clean, and it SEEMED clean from the first few hours or maybe the image sets that whoever at Valve might have checked, but there was some crazy poo poo that went unnoticed until someone reported it.

I played the demo over last weekend with some friends. It's not bad, especially at 20 bucks. There were only 3 dungeons in the demo, but it looked like there were at least 7 or 8 for EA (maybe?) which is good since none of them are randomized. There's a long grind to upgrade your camp that unlocks different skills, there's some craft. The highilght of the game is definitely the coop since each class feels pretty dependent on the other two. Only the mage can heal using a secondary resource, but he relies on the other two to collect his secondary resources for him. Only the warrior can really soak a decent amount of damage, and you lean on your assassin to dish out a lot of damage quickly. I don't know about longevity and how much EA jank there will be though.

I watched A_Seagull streaming Blightbound today and picked it up for myself. Right now it has frequent connection issues. This is totally at odds with the game's scaling difficulty that gives you access to harder dungeons + better loot if you complete more dungeons with the same party of players. As soon as one person disconnects, you lose your streak, effectively losing all of your progress. The game also appears to be literally unplayable without three players, so matchmaking is going to be extremely important. Right now they only have three servers, West Coast US, Singapore, and I forgot the other one.

I mean let's not pretend it's just porn games doing it. Mass Effect was one of the most original sci-fi universes ever created, except for slutty space elves that just happen to spend their (relative) youth being strippers and whores.

I liked how it didn't have a functioning V-sync, a working frame limiter, and stuttered for no reason. I also uninstalled it because I have such little patience nowadays. Lol. I was going to try the Imperial Agent on the Sith side. I heard that features one of the best stories that the game can offer.

I mean originally stripping out content to hide in an offsite patch was entirely understandable because Steam didn't allow adult content, but at this point if you're doing it just to try and boost visibility it's a little scummy.
