Linked because it's medical gore but it belongs in this thread - Surgeons and an EOD specialist removing a live RPG round from a soldier's live body in Afghanistan. https://imgur.com/ltv4xEp The caption if you don't need to see that: quote:On March 16, 2006, Private Channing Moss was traveling on a Humvee in Afghanistan when Taliban insurgents ambushed his unit. During the firefight, Moss was hit with an RPG on the left side of his body but did not explode. A medic injected him with a morphine shot and wrapped the unexploded RPG. He was later flown out in a helicopter to the nearest field hospital, the flight crew didn't have to rescue him because the RPG round could've gone off and killed all of them, but they still did so. Moss' second major stroke of luck came when a bomb disposal expert, Staff Sgt. Dan Brown (guy pulling off RPG round), was on the base. The surgeons and nurses wore helmets and body armor to protect themselves. Again, U.S. Army policy states that Moss should not be operated on because of the risk to medics and other patients. But the surgeons still operated on him and risked their lives when they didn't have to, to save him. They removed the RPG without it going off, but most of Moss' pelvic bone had shattered, and the surgeons removed much of the large intestine. The RPG didn't detonate because it hit a flesh surface and it needed a hard surface to arm and detonated. Moss transferred to hospitals in Afghanistan and Germany. Moss underwent physical therapy and received a Purple Heart. Due to a shattered pelvis, it took four major operations and years of grueling physiotherapy that took him out of a wheelchair, onto a walking frame, and then to walking with a cane. Today, Pvt. Channing Moss is alive and has four kids.

I'll believe he's sincere and not just profiting from the controversy when he quits SVU and donates his profits to BLM and other related groups. In 1864, he defeated Confederate forces under General Jubal Early in the Shenandoah Valley and his destruction of the economic infrastructure of the Valley, called "The Burning" by residents, was one of the first uses of scorched-earth tactics in the war. In 1865, his cavalry pursued Gen. Robert E. Lee and was instrumental in forcing his surrender at Appomattox. Sheridan fought in later years in the Indian Wars of the Great Plains. Both as a soldier and private citizen, he was instrumental in the development and protection of Yellowstone National Park. He once said "If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent Texas and live in Hell."

"he spent three months subduing Indians in the Texas Hill Country." "Professional hunters, trespassing on Indian land, killed over 4 million bison by 1874, and Sheridan applauded: "Let them kill, skin and sell until the buffalo is exterminated". When the Texas legislature considered outlawing bison poaching on tribal lands, Sheridan personally testified against it, suggesting that the legislature should give each of the hunters a medal, engraved with a dead buffalo on one side and a discouraged-looking Indian on the other." Not a badass.

Quoting myself getting excited in a discord because: Okay holy poo poo this is actually awesome: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill_400,_Bergstein In WWII, an outnumbered band of US Rangers captured a hill and then proceeded to defend it against lots of Nazis. https://warfarehistorynetwork.com/2017/05/19/taking-hill-400-army-rangers-vs-fallschirmjagers/ This is the most video game poo poo I've ever seen. No reinforcements. Lots of men die. But against the impossible odds, they hold it. quote:German efforts were about to pay off when a single Ranger turned the tide. Lomell recalled the moment. “My platoon sergeant, Ed Secor, a very quiet man, out of ammo and unarmed, seized two machine pistols from wounded Germans and in desperation charged a large German patrol, firing and screaming at them. His few remaining men rallied to the cause, and together they drove the Germans back down the hill.”

“The people in command did not know what the Rangers were. A Combat Command of 5th Armored Division, 3,000 men with tanks, failed to take the Burgeberg. Three companies of Rangers, just 200 soldiers, captured and held it.” Yeah that's pretty badass.
