So between their old leadership facing disillusionment and challenges from Libertarians and later the Tea Party, and the Dems having their expected second Clinton admin beaten by a new branding surge favoring Obama, it seems like a significant point of discontinuity. And then of course the financial crisis, which is what they were really talking about on the episode.
