This isn't the perfect example, but this type of film noir-esque "light coming through blinds" thing is everywhere in 90s media and I always get nostalgic for it.

Been watching https://windowsmoviehouse.com/ today and they have some 90s-rear end 90s selections. Currently "Rumble in the Bronx" is on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7vg8uGzLts Kind of in-love even more than I was before. Everyone is styled like a Capcom/SNK character, only real. There's a legit argument it's the best Street Fighter/Final Fight/Art of Fighting/Fatal Fury movie we'll ever get:

In 1993 my high school got fashion label Mambo to design their school uniform. Apparently this is the only picture of it online and it's 90s as all hell. There were also some massively baggy jeans and a zip up hoodie. The school colours were black and white so getting a label known for bright colours and wacky designs was a odd choice. With the stripes, it would make it seem like the kids were in old timey prison. An offhanded comment in a video about lost media I was watching youtube recently made me think about late night TV in the 90s. I know it existed in the 80s, but A) I was a much younger in the 80s and wasn't allowed to stay up ever and B) A lot of stations still went off the air at midnight then. The 90s is when they started programming all night. You had the tonight show and Conan and letterman and that show that was on after Conan, was it with Bob Costas? Also Arseino Hall is pretty much forgotten these days. Late Late show was a much more indepth talk show like Charlie Rose. But it was the stations that didn't have big late night talk shows or after those were over, that things got interesting. Being a teenager you quickly learned that your best chance of seeing boobs was the late night movies that local stations showed. Maybe you'd see Porky's, or Ski School or some other boob comedy, though this also resulted in watching movies you'd never see otherwise because you're like "well, maybe this will have some boobs in it too" and you end up watching Brazil or Delicatessen.

I miss the off-the-wall poo poo the local affiliates would show late nights. Like, really obscure crap from the ‘70s with guys with bad haircuts chasing each other through a canyon in helicopters. Oddly enough, I miss movies being aired on network television altogether. I miss the idea that we could watch a heavily and poorly edited-for-content box office hit years after its release. Also, I miss the bombastic intro title sequences for, like, CBS! Sunday Night at the Movies! that would fit in well with the clichéd CGI roller coaster bit that every cinema rolls before showtime. root beer has a new favorite as of 00:35 on Aug 5, 2020 |

The first time I ever saw The Empire Strikes Back was on a relatively low-powered, local, independent UHF station in the mid/late ’80s, which is fuckin’ wild to think about.

Yeah there is something to be said for back when the only way to get a/v media was aqueduct style. You just turn on the valve and whatever comes through is what you've got. https://www.windowsmoviehouse.com might scratch that itch a bit. It definitely has that "oh wow never would have seen this otherwise" aqueduct vibe, as much as one reasonably can in 2020. I'm not affiliated with it in any way, just sharing because it's worth a drat.

As i said, you'd watch a movie hoping for boobs but accidentally watch some weird movie that was forgotten or maybe just obscure. I think I saw First Blood on late night TV and didn't realize until near the end when Troutman shows out "OH! This is Rambo 1!" I thought it was just some Sly movie. As the only Rambo movie I knew was Part II which, is a very different movie. And yea, i miss the Event movies that networks would have, like hey everyone, we're gonna show Jurrassic Park here on ABC On July 3rd! Or the stations that had regular nightly movies, that was a good source of films, though it helped in Canada we were a little less squishmish so a boob or but might make it through and PG-13 violence would remain unedited. Iron Crowned posted:
Hell ya, ABC would always run Bond movies in the summer, and me and my dad would always watch them together. Ferrule posted:f them. So many nights staying up hoping for a boob shot because TV guide said that movie contained nudity... I had heard of this, and when I was vacationing in the states once, the hotel apartment thingy we were staying in had TVs in all the bedrooms, so I very sneakily turned the TV on and watched it, only to see what was clearly an edited cut to avoid showing anything interesting. But I do sometmes miss just having TV and watching TV, just checking out what's on rather than being overwhelmed with choices with everything at my fingertips.

Ok surely the 90s thread can help me with this. Back in the 90s people would say "Psycho!" with a high pitched voice and then they'd twirl a finger around their ear. It's from something and I can't remember what it was. If I ever knew.
