Jail and menstruation is a bad combo

From an old thread of mine:
I had changed into a set of grey scrubs and rubber sandals after the strip search and now was given a thin twin sized rolled up mat and a baggie of toiletries. The baggie contained a travel sized toothbrush and toothpaste, some ginormous pink menstrual pads from the 1950's, and a tiny fine-toothed plastic comb; hilarious considering my thick naturally curly hair, but I thought it could perhaps be used as a weapon in a pinch.

Then I was escorted to the cell where I would remain until my release. I had been picturing a row of barred cells like in the movies, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Instead, a narrow foyer bordered a large two story room, the front consisting of glass panels from floor to ceiling so the guards could see everywhere at all times. Inside, at least sixty women of various ethnicities milled about; it looked like a giant aquarium of exotic ugly women.

The guard removed my cuffs and took me inside, pointed to the glass right up front and said that's where I should sleep and left.
What hit me was the smell, it was a warm heavy odor, so strong it felt like particles should be visible in the air. I knew some of it had to be B.O., but it wasn't just that. After a few minutes I realized I was smelling menstruation, by who knows how many of the women I was locked up with. I'd read about cycles synchronizing among women in close quarters, of course I don't know if that's what was happening, but it was godawful.

I was already so hungover I felt shaky and weak, and this was too much. The only furniture in the room were plastic picnic tables chained to the floor so I sat in a nearby one, put my head down, and wallowed in self-pity for a while.

Why would an ambulance be leaving the hospital?
That sounds like a rough goddamn experience.

I don't think the syncing thing is actually true, is it? I think it's just the law of averages. If four of you live in a house then it's pretty likely two or three of you will be on at the same time occasionally.

I never used to get PMS at all until after I had my son and now there's a day or so a week before my period where I just cannot deal with my husband's stupid thoughtlessness about just leaving dishes and poo poo all over the house like I don't have better things to do with my time than put the goddamned mayonnaise back in the fridge that he took out. I usually don't give a poo poo and get them whenever I do one of my multiple daily cleaning sessions to but fuuuuuuck when those hormones hit do I tell him exactly how pissed I get that he just leaves his dirty poo poo everywhere for me to clean up like I'm a bus boy.

To tell you the truth I'm kinda leaning into it and enjoying being angry sometimes. For fucks sake I spend like eighty percent of my time picking up after a toddler, Mr Ralph is a grown rear end man who is perfectly capable of putting his half-drank soda in the fridge after lunch. I got an app that tracks my period and I'm supposed to get it here in four days, which tracks cause a few days ago I was telling him that being a stay at home mom is death by a thousand cuts and he's just throwing more razor blades at me.

My cramps are worse too after having a kid. I never used to really notice them but boy howdy do I do now.

Edit- Wow I think I still got some PMS cause I'm apparently real mad about it still.

My period came back after less than a year of breastfeeding. I guess that's uncommon? I feel so special.

You ever menstruate so hard that your uterus rockets out of your vagina inverted, and your ovaries develop hundreds of torsions in the rifling before getting stuck together in a knot, and you just have this flaky fleshy mass hanging between your legs and you walk around everywhere like a grandfather clock going GONG GONG GONG so nobody asks questions about your crotchless pants

It's dependent on individual person and circumstance. Before my son, my periods weren't consistent so I think that helped:shrug:.

I know folks who got their periods like right away, even with breastfeeding, so you are not alone.

i know a lot of people who would enthusiastically agree to this but it sounds like a wide-awake nightmare to me, i'm chafed and raw after five days of tampons, i cannot imagine how hosed up my whole poo poo would be after 30, it'd take another two months just for the recovery

although i suppose you could pick february and game the system to a degree but it would still suck rear end

Entered menopause juuuust at a time when having to also buy tampons would mean eating crackers for a few days. Whew! Prior to that was an exercise in keeping clean when I had no idea when or for how long or even how heavy my periods would be. Perimenopause is weird and annoying.

i think it's really cool and considerate of my brain to not make me pass out or puke at the sight of a toilet or underwear full of uterine lining and blood. cause i sure as hell lose it when the blood comes from anywhere else.

I didn't really get periods for years and years because of my implant

...which was scheduled for replacement in April

The first time I got a real period since like 2007, I lost my poo poo so bad I was straight-up microwaving chocolate bars

I am so drat glad to be rid of my uterus, I wish I could have had it out years earlier, never intended on using it. It was tilted as well.

The worst part for me as a period haver was always having to think about it. After my first period, it was always something I would have to take into consideration anytime I planned to do something. Sleepover at my friends house, when's my period? Summer camp, when's my period? Swim meet? Final exams? Much anticipated trip to Europe? gently caress.

I still get occasional nightmares about getting my period and I'm in a crowd and there's no bathroom. My uterus has given me PTSD.

I never get the chocolate cravings, instead I become a ravenous monster for anything salty and bloat up like a seal. It’s not uncommon for me to gain as much as 10-15 pounds of bloat and spend the entire last day of my period on the toilet pissing it all out.

One time this caused me to pee and wipe and pee and wipe so much that I ended up with labial abrasions that required prescription ointment to cure.

Ftm nonbinary person here - started HRT (Reandron) every 3 months am now close to my third year. Usually it takes three or so months to have your period stop. Mine took 8. But once it did I was like.... this is bliss. Not only is it easing my mental health that traditionally made me beg the universe to squash me into the earth I barley can keep my eyes open from the primordial darkness and do a bunch of heavy gush two days. Prior to this was bone deep ache in my tits and back.

Up untill a few years ago I had size 8/10H cup australian (no idea as to what that is in euro or us?) The size of my back is about 20ish cm to at once a 130 cm bust measurement. Height wize im 411 - my family is from El Salvador - not the tallest people but aye pobdy is nerfect. Growing up in Australia in the early 90s and starting puberty at age 8 when most my peers were agender waifs I had the first starts of what would for the most part of my life would mark me as...

Short - HUGE TITS - JUST GODDAMN - she's WHAT AGE OLD OH MY GOD... god i wish i were a dude but that is not gonna happen you just ended up being the platonic ideal of big tiddy goth gf. I hated that but boy houdy did I ever lean into that till I realize I was non binary and trans and wanted to get on hrt. I finally in my early 30s lucked into medicare australia did my reduction and then got onto T.

At first i wanted to do small dose slow roll out but thankfully reandron hit just right. Before all this it would start thin then for two max three days and spotting light to nothing 2. The two to three days after the first 5 hours becomes a facucet with guest stars:

Chunks?!
Super Night Time? You mean will see me through till lunch time - duck into loo change out into another super night. Hope this is not a PE day or I walk anyehere too far in middle of brisbane heat. Otherwise bare min change into regular super wings on all these btw. Wingless to me was a fairytail carpet also tampons. Never got them to work so big pad life.

Combination of looking like and being treated like a freak causing debilitating spasaming as well as the ache of puberty made me feel like a constantly hurting hairy sweaty linda blair full regan realness, growing pains (which is rich cuz a guy peaked at 150cm).

Mental health was toilet.

Once starting t though at least i wasnt as fatiuged and they ran normally as they had done in timing till after 8 months they didnt return. They were not missed.

Boy Germs are a HELL of a drug but Im a tough lil non binary little wierdo and have supports.

Whoah this is a rant.
