It's your choice: a strong, confident woman in a uniform, or a chick in a bare midriff outfit striking a sexualised pinup pose to show off her overlapping fake tits. Talk about a literal two-dimensional character.

Why the hell does everything have to give these lonely freaks a boner to be of value? I don’t even understand the issue with the Supergirl cover - it’s because she’s not making a porno face? Is that it?

Not everything. Just everything that involves women. Men are allowed - nay, required - to be paragons of masculinity because they're inspirations to the reader. But women are objects whose purpose is to be sexy for men.

I’m just in awe of how far we’ve come that depictions of physically perfect women in skin-tight costumes are being derided as “not sexy enough.”

Ooooh, no, you don't get it. The problem is not the suit, it's that Supergirl is shown as a muscular woman, in a powerful pose, not in doggy pose flashing her tits or rear end at the viewer.

I’m sharing Busiek’s tweet because there doesn’t seem to be any CONFIRMED information about specific layoffs and remark people are blowing it out of proportion.

From the replies:
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/heat-vision/dc-comics-dc-universe-hit-by-major-layoffs-1306743

quote:

The majority of staff of the streaming service DC Universe has been laid off, as has editor-in-chief Bob Harras and multiple other executives on the publishing side.
Monday's WarnerMedia layoffs have affected a significant number of high-level figures at comic book powerhouse DC, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

Among those said to be losing their positions are editor-in-chief Bob Harris, senior VP of publishing strategy and support services Hank Kanalz, VP of marketing and creative services Jonah Weiland, VP global publishing initiatives and digital strategy Bobbie Chase, senior story editor Brian Cunningham, and executive editor Mark Doyle, who oversaw the rollout of the Black Label graphic novels. Jim Lee remains the CCO.

Roughly one third of DC's editorial ranks are being laid off, according to sources.

Insiders also say the majority of the staff of the streaming service DC Universe has been laid off, a move that had been widely expected as WarnerMedia shifts its focus to new streaming service HBO Max.

"DC Universe was DOA as soon as the AT&T merger happened,” said one source.

DC Universe launched in May 2018, and is home to live-action series such as Doom Patrol, Titans and Stargirl, as well as animated offerings including Young Justice and Harley Quinn. Some of those shows have now started to stream on HBO Max.

Also a victim of the layoffs: DC Direct, the company’s in-house merchandise and collectibles manufacturer. The division has been shuttered after 22 years, another move that was rumored when Warner Bros. Consumer Products began taking a more active role in DC merchandising.

A DC spokesperson declined to comment on the changes, which come less than two weeks before the planned Aug. 22 online event DC Fandome, which is set to showcase stars from DC's film, TV and comic book worlds.

our every move is the new tradition

I was just writing about this.

AT&T overspent dramatically to get the Time Warner merger to happen in 2018, and is now in debt to the tune of around $150 billion. It's been making some really crazy moves to try to cut down on that, which is why they were talking about selling off WB Games a little while ago, and it was laying people off on the regular even before COVID-19 blew a hole in its profit margins. HBO and Warner Brothers got hit pretty hard yesterday, and I don't think anyone expected the current layoffs wave to keep going.

What I'm saying is to not necessarily attribute this to anything DC was or was not doing. It's just getting Time Warner'd right now like every other company under that umbrella.

I was watching a video yesterday Thought Slime and he was talking about She-Ra and about how the Quartering got all pissy that he couldn't get a boner over the new She-Ra design and therefor it was bad, because a woman can only exist in media to give dudes boners, and that in itself was meant to teach little girls who watch this to learn how to be attractive to give men boners so they will marry them and give them children.

Then I watched his video on JORP and showed how Dr Peterson, a self proclaimed super smart guy, thinks womens only reason to wear makeup or dress nicely is to attract men and that was it.

It just constantly strikes me how this shitheads think that women have only one goal, whether be real or imaginary, and that is to turn men on. They have no agency, that if they do things for themselves they become unfeminine and that is bad because being unfeminine means that dudes won't want you, which is the worst thing that could happen to a woman. Looking at those two covers and i honestly can't see why anyone who had that worldview could find fault with it, its not just as overtly sexual as the CG one.

AT&T is also trying to appease investor Paul Singer, who has more in common with forces of nature than with human beings.

I don't like the art style in She-Ra and it is one of the main reasons I have no interest in watching the series, but I feel that way about most animation these days.

There are also several legendary and popular comic artists whose style I don't like, but I simply don't buy their work and go about my day.

I don't know why CGers can't grasp that not every style needs to appeal to every single person, it would be boring if every single artist had the exact same style.

They completely understand that not every style will appeal to every person, what they can't abide is that not every style specifically appeals to them

And that style has to give them boners.

Jenny Nicholson in her video on the history of Bronies offhandedly makes a comment "lots of men are unable to like something female without being sexually attracted to it", which is yea, that's incredibly true. And that fits in with what you're saying to, that style must make them attracted to the character. I remember when Erica Henderson's design for Squirrel Girl came out and there was a lot of comments about her not being attractive, and I saw at least one person say "why did they make her unfuckable?". Which is insane because Squirrel Girl was about making friends with your enemies and nut based puns, not making you want to have sex with the character.
